Challenge: Catch the Sun

Thanks to The Old Guy for the rails challenge. Also thanks to Vegas Stan for giving me the challenge
I was so excited when I got an email with beautiful pictures of people catching or holding the sun. I wanted to do a challenge of it. Wellllllllll.......the weather has done everything not to work with me for 2 weeks now. It has been cloudy...bummer.
Here is the little of the sun I could catch:
1 The sun reflecting off of clouds
2 yet again
3 The sun through the fence at Michigan International Speedway
4 Oh wait there it is! Just for a brief minute...
Now here are some examples from the email that gave me the idea. This is really what I had in mind. I hope I will be able to participate in the challenge and get shots like I really wanted to.
*THESE ARE EXAMPLES NOT TAKEN BY ME
6 (sorry about the double number)
*The object of this challenge is to catch the sun in, out of the ordinary places. (not just regular sun sets. I know someone has posted a sun set with the sun behind the sails of a sailboat. That is perfect! Catch it in odd places. I really wish I had the sun to do like the shots I didn't take. That is what I am looking for. I am still working on it....but still only clouds here.)
Next up is Cratchet. I can't wait to see what she comes up with.

Sounds like a good challenge. I know what you mean about the weather, it can play havoc with any challenge, or photo for that mater. Gotta see what I can do with this one.
And thanks to The Old Guy for the previous challeng, didn't get the one shot I was after, but maybe later.

I guess I won't have any excuse for not participating in THIS challenge - if we have nothing else in New Mexico, we have sun!

Dear Penny,
What a great challenge . Partial to No's 1-2-5 which really stress the suns natural beauty and the art of reproducing that beauty in photo. Thanks for sharing .
No's 6-6-8 are nothing less than spectacular comps.

Wonderful color in your shots, Penny. I've seen those, and tried to get them myself with no such luck. One day though. I hope I can participate in your challenge. Seems like a fun one.
And also, thanks Ralph for the rails challenge.

Penny,
Just came back to re-visit these pics from email stuff. They are at sunset, so that is a good thing for us. The first one is actually the moon rising over evening sun-washed mountains. Now, if only the clouds would go away, I will try evening shots.
