Challenge: figurines/statues

I want to thank NatureBug for hosting the Heirloom Bi-Weekly Challenge. There were a lot of beautiful and some cleaver posts. And I, for one, learned some new skills. She has generously passed the honor for this Bi-Weekly Challenge on to me.
Recently, I have been noticing figurines, statue and statuettes, and wondering about the artisans who created them. So I thought Figurine and Statues would make a good challenge theme. I wanted a theme everybody could do (I eliminated “poisonous snakes of India” for that reason.) where you could be out-of-doors if the weather allowed but could do it indoors if it is just too hot and humid. I would like to set some sideboards to keep in the spirit of being a “challenge”.
Pretty much anything goes. Your subject can be some small elegant figurine or something whimsical like this Boyd’s Bear. Or it can be as large as Mt. Rushmore (see comment below). It is surprising how many folks in the neighborhood have lawn statues. I have found that a great way to meet new neighbors is to crawl around like Rambo on their front lawn; I have also gained a new perspective of dogs from that position. You might see something strange (can any of you SF members tell me what these guys are?). Or, like this one of Paul Bunyan and “End of the Trail” in the same photo space, some bit of Irony (thanks to Les I have that expression stuck in my head like a bad song, sorry) (this was taken from a very old slide; maybe the Crescent City folks can improve on it). Another, and welcomed, possibility is something you or someone you know created: carved, molded, sculpted.
BUT your subject must be animate; that is, of a person/people or animals or Both. AND let’s make at least one a new picture taken within the challenge period.
I hope this is fun for everyone and can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Footnote: Brenda kindly let me use her picture of Mt. Rushmore. Isn’t she just the nicest, sweetest, most generous, caring, wonderful person? Brenda you are the Greatest!! (I told her I would say all that if she let me use her picture )

GDWSR-Challenges are not exactly a breeze to come up with, as I found out (fun though). This one should be really cool & interesting. I'm sure we'll see many different interpretations, which is awesome. My wheels are turning...hmmmmm...

Talk about a challenge, I spent 8 hours in Chicago the other day, the opportunities were endless and I blew everyone of them, in fact-deleted them they were so bad, this is going to make me get out there to try again! I am better at things that breathe...Terrific examples to spark my imagination!

Great Challenge gd! My wheels are already turning. Have some indoor stuff in mind and w/the weather cooling down to low-mid 90's I've got a few other ideas. Thanks gd!

Sounds like fun, and something easily transistioned from Cindy's wonderful challenge. what about insects and plant statues? They make those you know (I actually just got a garden snail ornament for my yard from my mother).
I love the lighting and bokeh in your last shot, and the lighting is very well done in your first shot as well. Perhaps I'll get my camera out (or the new canon home) this week so I can participate in a challenge for the first time in forever.

Les, insects are animals so they fit the challenge just fine (so are snails). Plants arn't but I would love to see what you have so let's say that for every plant fig/stat you have to give us two animal/people ones. Will that work?

Sure thing... I think I might be able to handle that.
