With assorted thirds.

Yay!  Christmas came early.....I got my new camera!  I got a Canon Rebel XT with the 18-55 kit lens, plus a 70-300 lens with the macro function on it.  I am very happy with the camera....I just have to learn to use it.  I've not played much with the "custom" settings, but I'd like to share some pics with you that I have taken with it.  I need all the help I can get, so fire away....

Always wanted to take some shots At Union Staition in downtown Los Angeles. I got off work early yesterday and it was perfect opportunity.
This is my first foray at conciously shooting with the rule of thirds in mind.
It was harder than I thought it would be. Not sure how I did, would love any help and constructive criticism anyone can give.

 I do not fully understand thirds but here are a few of my tries--I was shaking when taking pictures so I know some are not clear like they should be, but wanted to try my hand at this and it will be a few more days before being able to try to do any more--will appreciate help.

During Gallery Night in Alpine one of our friends brought his estate jewelry.
While he packed up the next morning I used the time to take pictures of his treasures. I piled his turquoise  jewelry up in a copper pot and tried to get some shots. Next came the beadwork.

This is my Thirds entry, these are orange potterybeads. I knew if I didn't get these shots now I would never have this much jewelry in one place again!

I wanted it ALL!

I was in the midst of a whole gaggle of geese, when this one in particular seemed to be telling me something.  

He was waving at me, or he needed some help.   I decided to let him work out his problem, but it provided a perfect opportunity for me to catch his photo.  

Then "one" of us "Flew" outta there....okay "he" flew, "I" ran!
