Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Forgot to mention that there were approximately 100 mustangs from several states at this gathering--and just within a couple miles from my place.
a couple of you thought the flower just a little too dark--here it is w/o any adjustment lighter bachelor
the wind finally laid this morning. even though the sky was grey and heavily overcast, the air was cool.
i decided to try some flower shots anyway.
the fig tree was another matter. i found it down, broken off at ground level. bummer, i love those sweet little fruits. i don't know if it was the drought since i watered it often. i think maybe the ants and the wind actually got to it. i'm just glad no one was home here when i made my way past.
i was glad to see my prickly-less pear cactus was doing ok. i can't wait for the blooms to come and make the deep purple tunas, have you ever had a tuna margarita? yum! (the pads, nopalitos, can also be scrambled up in eggs and served on a tortilla)
looking south, i tried to get a shot across the field including the old gun shed, but, i was dissappointed with the sky. i usually try to shoot and present my photos with a minimum of editing. but, there was something i liked about that shot so i tried this and i find it agreeable (whether you agree with ps or not, i like it).
thanks for the idea. i hope you don't mind me "borrowing" it.
well, the sun is out again and the wind is back up so i'll be retreating to the air conditioning until dinner.
Spring has Sprung
Today I went into my yard and took a bunch of pictures and happened to check out this site and noticed the theme matches some of the pictures I took. So here they are. :)
Edit: Here's a repost of the Dandelions shot, cropped a little differently based on suggestions: dandelions2
Heidi & a Red~Winged Blackbird
Good evening. We cleaned out the basement the other day & Heidi got silly. Then the cat was in the bag. The last shot is one I took on my last outing with Robin. Keeping it short because it's late and I have a busy day tomorrow-tomorrow is Codi~Day!!!
Have a great weekend, everyone!!!
Red winged blackbird.
Spring has sprung in Texas for Duck
Has felt wonderful to get out shooting again.
The first two shots were taken when I spent 2 days shooting with my buddy PTL (Paul). Had a great time.
Thanks for looking.
Spring down on the Farm...
i took what we here on the farm refer to as a "welty" this morning. if you're not familiar with that term, it's just our word for a golf cart ride around the property.
i took my camera and i got what i think are a few interesting shots. i'm glad spring is the challenge, 'cuz it's a bustin' out all over down here!
i'm not sure of this flowers' name, (Easter lily, i suppose?) we've always called them "Naked Ladies" i found it in the front yard blooming away, all by itself. i guess the others will follow shortly.
then, i made my way around to the back barnyard and revisited the old seed shed...NO SNOW this time!
next, i went 'round to the south side of the old farmhouse and finally finished up in the front looking east.
the drought has been very hard on the maize crop and a lot of it did not germinate. but, the pink buttercups seem to be taking it okay though. (thanks in part to my creative mowing techniques, which my husband despises! i do it for the flowers and, maybe, just a little, to poke fun at him.)
okay enough for now.
