Cowboys Out Back

By bullshoalsview written 9/22/06 6:07 PM, published 9/22/06 6:07 PM

Our little town had a festival down on the square today.  Looked kind of ordinary.  The best stuff was behind the tents.... where I caught these two fellows hard at work people watching... but what they didn't know, was I was watching them...

So just one question here....

Do you like your Popup LinkCowboys In Color

News bulletin........just out today.........

By KayN written 9/20/06 1:14 PM, published 9/20/06 1:14 PM

The police in Las Vegas, NV have confirmed the identity of a woman who was found running around the streets with a camera hanging around her neck as KayN; she refuses to give her full last name, and will admit to only one of the crimes she has been accused of committing.  She admits to stalking people with the express purpose of causing utter chaos in their lives when their photos are published.  However, she takes the fifth when questioned about the drunk & disorderly conduct claim, trying to table dance on one of the roulette tables at the Luxor and the claim that she was seen hanging out the balcony window of her hotel room dangling her camera by it's strap.  She refuses to answer any more questions and has requested a lawyer, only she can't remember the name of her retainer.  Says it's either Surferguy, Chef, JoJames3, JustPeachy, Loweho or Turbo.....and claims somebody by the name of BusyB will get her out of the pokey as soon as she can win enough money at the slots.  More on this story at 11.

I can only HOPE this doesn't happen.........lol........
All kidding aside, I am leaving for Vegas in the morning; will be there for 4 days, then I'm off to TN to see my family and pick up my Baby dog (my toy poodle); my daughter has been keeping her for me since July......when we went to China.  Just thought I'd put a post in for the theme before I head out......I'll try to check in some while I'm gone, but can't promise anything.  And, who knows, y'all might just see Busy and I on TV........as the biggest winners Vegas has ever seen!  Yeah, right........

I have had a hard time getting out and being creative lately. I'm almost even tired of taking pictures of my son, almost. I though this picture of Aiyana's Popup Linkbirthday party was cute. I took this at Iao valley, it's the  Popup Linkceiling in a pavillion there. Finally I thought this would work well for the  Popup Linksymmetry theme.

Simple Symmetry

By jam9663 written 9/17/06 5:28 PM, published 9/17/06 5:28 PM

The dictionary discribes symmetry as:
1 the quality of being made up of exactly similar parts facing each other or around an axis. 2 correct or pleasing proportion of parts. 3 similarity or exact correspondence.

  — ORIGIN Latin symmetria, from Greek sun- ‘with’ + metron ‘measure’.

To me these are all a "pleasing proportion of parts."

My Grandfather

By Pablo57 written 9/17/06 2:16 PM, published 9/17/06 2:16 PM

Post Number 101.  I wanted to honor my Grandfather on my 100th post, but the Chrysler Building photo distracted me.  I’m at my childhood home in Flushing, Queens and there are boxes of photos in the basement.  The photos in this post are the earliest ones I found. They were found in a white envelope that fell out of a recent photo album (1975).  There are other photo albums from the 1940’s, but this envelope was just waiting to be found.

The photos are postcards with black fountain pen Italian writing on the back.  The first photo is from about 1910 and shows my Grandfather as a teenager in a small town outside Naples, Italy. My Grandfather is the middle person in the back row.  The older gentleman sitting down with a pipe I can assume is my Great Grandfather. The second photo is my Grandfather, he is in his twenties in about 1920, I believe this was taken just before he immigrated to NYC. When he arrived in NYC in 1922 he opened a general store at 1 Christopher Street, in Greenwich Village, not far from the thumbnail.  He raised 4 daughters, my mother the eldest, and 3 sons.  He returned to spirit when I was seven years old and I knew him well.

The joyful symmetry spans time and spirit.

Serendipity on the Playground

By Lidljo written 9/16/06 5:04 PM, published 9/16/06 5:04 PM
Friday morning one of my fellow teachers came to my room just minutes before the children arrived and told me to look out the window.  He knows that I am always looking for a picture.  The east side of the playground was just filled with spider's webs that were glistening in the rising sun - we had a fog that morning so they were full of dew.  Unfortunately a student destroyed some before I could get out there and some were too high up for me to shoot without something to stand on.  Once I took attendance I told the children that we were going to take a walk for devotions and see something special (remember that I teach in a Christian school).  So my 16 kids followed me out on the playground and we were all in awe of the beautiful webs.  I only got a good shot of one - so you tell me what you think.
