Challenge: Joyful Symmetry

Thank you Jam.

September 11th brought many tears to me, many heart aches, many sorrows, but it also brought me joy.  Don’t misunderstand me.  I worked in both buildings of the World Trade Centers for 20 years, starting in 1980, till 2001.  I grew up in the Twin Towers.  At least once a day a tear comes to my eye, but all this sorrow, pain and suffering have brought me to a different point of view. A joyful symmetry.  I now consciously choose to enjoy happiness.  I choose to enjoy life, to be conscious that joy does not exist without sorrow.

Everyday problems are opportunities to learn and grow.  Traffic jams, long lines at the coffee shop, a missed bus, an extended argument, these are opportunities that saved a few lives. A joyful symmetry.

We have all gone through tragedies.  There is no scale to tragedy, one person’s pain and suffering is not more painful than another person’s.

For those that survived and walked away from the WTC, many consider September 11th as their birthday.  I feel the same way.  It was a wake up call.  So let’s put away all the political posturing, the financial gains from tragedy, let them be.  It’s time to celebrate our rebirth and to honor the fallen by living a life worth living.

This week’s challenge is “Joyful Symmetry”.  Please take photos of people, places or things that make you smile or laugh.  Photos that you are thankful for, that bring you hope or joy.  Photos that are magical, photos that capture a moment of joy or bliss.  Let the celebration begin.

Popup Link2. Sasha and Bella dancing at the night club Tatiana
Popup Link3. Vika meets a new friend in DC

Extra credit for photos that show ordinary, everyday symmetry that brings joy, just because the symmetry looks so nice.
Popup Link4. Geese in Sheapshead Bay
Popup Link5. Macy’s Main Entrance They just took the scaffolding down after two years and this is my first photo of the original main entrance to Macy’s
    Popup Link6. Multiplicable Symmetry

Rules, we don’t need no stinkin rules.  I only ask that you post your best current photos.  Take a hundred photos, then pick your ten best, wait a few days, then pick one or two from the ten.  Or take only one and make it your best.

Special credit for first time story tellers and returning members.

The next challenge will be presented by Pyro43.

Life is magical. Down the page is Fuzzy1’s Coney Island Tour. Coney Island is my home. My apartment is in two of his photos. “Gazebo” my apartment house is the white building. In the last photo “A View” my building is the one on the far right. My condo looks away from the amusement park toward Brighton Beach.

I thought of you when I saw Fuzzy1's post. And your wisdom in deciding to choose happiness is laudable--sounds simple, but it requires effort each day. Loved multiplicable symmetry--for the words and the image. Nice challenge.

I'm still trying to understand that dancing shot at club Tatiania, perhaps the most dramatic dance photo I have ever seen. What were they dancing? No matter, it sure isn't one that I could hope to do. Wow!
