Challenge: Bi-Weekly Challenge – Curves

By codepoit from Sep 23, 2006, to Oct 07, 2006
I am going to be out of town until Sunday afternoon. So that you won’t have to wait, with bated breath until then, I am taking the liberty of posting the new challenge on Friday instead of Sunday.

First, thanks to Pablo57 for his - Joyful Symmetry - Sept. 11th Tribute Challenge. I enjoyed viewing the images that everyone submitted. Second, I want to thank him for giving me the opportunity to present the new challenge.

Almost everywhere we look, we see curves. The word “curve” may be a noun, verb or adjective. And that is the straight truth.

Where do we see curves? Here’s where I found a few.
I found a curve in the Popup Linkpages of a book
And in Popup Linkarchitecture
Also in what I wear Popup Linkmy boots and Popup Linkhat
I found curves where I Popup Linkdrive and where I Popup Linkwalk and rest
I found curves in nature, e.g., Popup Linkseed heads and the repeating curves of the Popup Linkhosta leaf
I saw curves in a Popup Linkwine bottle
And in the dim light, I enjoyed the curve of a very Popup Linksexy waist

So, my challenge to you is to find and shoot curves. Show me curves of all types. They are all around you, and in places that you never noticed.

Since the reason for the challenge is to get your creative juices flowing, experiment and improve, please post only pictures that you shoot AFTER the challenge was presented. If you have an image in your archives that you think fits the challenge, go back and shoot it again. Be creative at all times, and think about composition, perspective, depth of field and lighting.

Now get out there and shoot!

Autumn 2006 - Crivitz, Wisconsin

By Pyro43 written 10/6/06 11:18 AM, published 10/6/06 11:01 PM

I had a little time to take a ride and some pictures before packing up to come back home last weekend. I found some curves, steam and colors to share with you. The sun shining on the wires and chains in "Misty Morning" should qualify it for the current challenge

Romance Lives... and Curves!

By photorogue written 10/5/06 6:00 PM, published 10/6/06 11:09 AM

Being a poor photographer I tend to search for subjects close to home.  Tonight however I found out just how rich I can be.  I hope that these images convey just how amazing this night started out.

I was doubly lucky, not only was the night amazing, it was incredibly curvaceous too!

The lighting in these images changes color some, I was using my simple point and shoot and was altering the white balance to change the look of the scenes.

The moon was full and the inlet was awash with gentle waves.  The boats rocked gently in the light as the clouds sailed over them.  The moon was a beacon to weary sailors and romantics, warning of rocky shoals and treacherous passages.  The moon sailed through the night, oblivious to us all.

Go soft into that gentle night, dreamers and lovers, sail into the misty clouds of imagination.

Destruction...

Popup Linkhawaii1_342_1

On December 7th, 1941, the American territory of Hawaii was suddenly and deliberatly attacked by the Empire of Japan.  Today, the Pearl Harbor is a National Monument to preserve our military history.  Some 1,500 Sailors and Marines gave their lives on the USS Arizona.  This is what remains...

Nature can be just as destructive...maybe worse than anything man can do.  Here we see where the lava meets the road.

I shot this fun picture at a wedding just the other day. This young girl was crawling around the floor totally bored and grabbing the flowers from the tables. So I asked her to stop and show me her flowers and this is what I got!

I call her Pansy Girl.

Let Me Introduce Myself...

By LensPapa written 10/3/06 11:44 PM, published 10/3/06 11:44 PM

Hello,
I'm LensPapa. I've been a photo nut since I was 19. My experience is 35mm, 4x6 and now, finally, digital. I have a 5mpx Panasonic Lumix which I bought because of the Leica Lens. It's a great camera packed with features I'm still learning after a year. I'm now 56 and love to spend time on Adobe Photoshop.
Here are some photos I picked to introduce myself to this intriguing web site...I hope you enjoy these latest creations of my colorful imagination...Smitty spun a web between my neighbor and my garage that spanned 16 feet! The pics of me are from my recent trip to Cabo San Lucas last July 2006.Popup LinkLensPapa
