kitzimikk :::: happy holidays
I'm rushing this a little for two reasons. First, I figure the challenge is going to change on me any moment now, and second, I had to shoot something after the battery charged on my new camera.
As for the traditions, I started a new one this year. I've posted before about losing my father a few years ago. One of his favorite things was to visit Florida, and he loved the palm trees there. On more than one occasion he would buy one of those palm seedlings they sell in the tourist shops, bring it north and try to grow it at home. It never took though. So this year I got a new Christmas tree in his memory. I've had a couple of traditional ornaments for a few years now. This horn symbolizes the many trumpet players we've had in my family. Both my Mom & Dad, my brother and I, a couple of uncles, and one of my nephews have all played the trumpet. My Mom bought me
this one because of my favorite hobby.
Well, I'm off to celebrate the holidays with my sister and her family. I hope everyone has a safe and prosperous New Year!
Happy New Year everyone!
At the end of this ornament holiday challange,I found a few fun ones.Grandfather's work@1920 for RedBook magazine cover. FRAZIER FUR BULB RED BALL ORN#1 TIRED BENJAMIN.
I'm Thinking About It. It was the last day of the 2006 school year and I was up shooting my wife's Kindergarten class for her memory books she gives to each parent at the end of year as a gift. This was a long shot, with low lighting at the end of the day of holiday celebrations, candy, making gingerbread houses, and lots of fun. I really wonder what this child is thinking? I wonder if he is really listening to Mrs. C's last minute instructions. . .or maybe Santa???
You've already seen our fudge tradition. Here are some others that reside on our Christmas tree. The tree topper is the first "ornament" I bought for my first full size tree. It has topped every tree since. The books are from our Advent calendar. Each contains a small part of the Christmas story. We read one book each night during the month of December and then hang them on the tree. We also have the ornaments my mom buys for the boys each year, and of course, the handmade ones I cherish.
This is a shot of my Grandpa Clark (my mom's dad) eyeing up some brownies he got for Christmas. It was a bit of a hard Christmas for my family because we're not sure how much longer my Grandpa will be around. He's hasn't been doing well recently after a series of strokes. He hasn't been able to talk for a while now. We of course still talk to him, and he tries his best to lets us know what he's thinking. He's always had a sweet tooth, and this Christmas he received a lot more sweets than usual. He seemed quite happy to get them, and I'm sure he's enjoying every last one of them. :)
I lived in Wilmington,NC for a spell and captured some of the most beautiful sites u could see.
EVES OF CHRISTMAS
As I drove with my brother (thrilled as much as every child who was trying, but unable to sleep being filled with the excited anticipation of Christmas morning) because he had given me for my birthday only four days earlier the camera I used to take this photograph.
As we weaved thru the back streets of Babylon Village on Long Island, New York I was lulled by the peaceful and simple serenity of this home.I hope that as you view this photo you will share with me and experience these same emotions.
These are a few of my favorite things. Yeah, we had them way back then and still do now. Only now, we decorate each of them with an ornament. Lava Lamps. Love 'em. Oh, they're on year round. We just have no tree and Charles Schulz would be proud. It's our tradition. Shot as is on a pod, just cropped it a bit.I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.

Now to finish the week and head into the new year.
The one thing about traditions is that they evolve with the changes wrought in each family. For years our family has celebrated at my parents house. With my family moving to Colorado, the SoCal base has changed.But here is to New Traditions.
The Candle behind glass 2 was taken last night at my sister's house. The ornaments are also from her tree. She is a Hallmark series collector - can you tell? Christmas White Santa LS, Purple Father Christmas LS, Green Angel LS
