Challenge: Show The Difference

This challenge is a little different.  I want you to show us the difference between a snapshot and a nice photo.  There are several ways to do this here are some of them:

There is shutter speed With a slow shutter speed you can make  water look like it is flowing. With a fast shutter speed you can stop water.

Find a subject and pick out one interesting characteristic

Cropping uncropped  cropped

Move With background  No background distraction and crop

Angles snapshot  Move in closer and at a different angle

Watch your background snapshot
 move in  closer and evencloser

Fill your frame snapshot
full frame  or use the rule of thirds

Think of what you want to see snapshot get the shot without cropping

Contrast snapshot  up close with a bump up of contrast

With people these things all work too.  Far away and up close at a better angle

Always keep in mind color, clarity and focus. Composition is a key factor.  Rule of thirds is also a huge factor.  I fell short on time to get more examples.

What I want to see is your snapshot and your photo.  "Show Us The Difference" and tell us what you did.  The possibilities are endless.  For the people who have been doing this for awhile it will be hard to shoot a plain old snapshot.  So it will challenge everyone....New shots please....And have fun with it!!!!!

Thanks Margarita for a great Vocab challenge

Next up is our very own Charlie "Boyhigingintree"  I can't wait to see what he comes up with!!!

First, thanks to Margarita for the vocabulary challenge. I think we all had fun with it. Penny, this looks like it will be a most enjoyable theme, too. I'm looking forward to working on it. I'm good with snapshots. Now I have to learn how to take a photo.

Thanks, Margarita. I really enjoyed your vocabulary challenge. Wow Penny, this is a great idea and challenge! Loved your examples. I'm gonna learn lots from it, but I have a feeling it's gonna be super hard for those of us who're still taking snapshots :)

Sounds like a great challenge, I didnt realise there is a difference between a snapshot and photo =). I will have to think of this when I go down the trail my counselor told me about that leads to the flood plains of the Sacramento River below their office building.

I also forgot one *very important* thing that makes the difference between a photo and a snapshot. *EMOTION* Remember that you know how you felt when you took a certain shot. Well when you post it here we do not have the emotion that you feel when you see the shot. So lets say you show a shot of Aunt So and SO. You feel the emotions you feel for the person. You show everyone here and they see the shot they don't feel the emotion. That is a HUGE factor in photography. So if it is an emotional shot step back and take a look at the photo in general not the subject.
