Route 9's views cause the driver to swerve as they try to take it all in and drive at the same time!
As we came upon the
Checker Board Mesa
I yelled STOP!!!!!!!!
This is something we have to see, and of course photograph!
The Checkerboard Mesa is made of Navajo sandstone.
According to the guidebook the pattern is caused by vertical fractures and horizontal bedding planes accentuated by weathering.

This is the last of my shots from Memorial Day at the beach.  I know they do not compare to SG's ocean shots, but Lake Michigan is special to me.  Tomorrow I go on my annual trip with the school children to the Tiffany House.  I showed some shots from that last year.

We've had a busy week at my schools: field days, field trips, parent shows. Yesterday was fourth grade Idaho History Day. We had some very large visitors, bringing some lines of their own.

As a school counselor, I love taking photos of my kids. Outside my office are hundreds of photos of faces and smiles and eyes and groups and poses. I've been reluctant to post any photos online, but I think these are acceptably anonymous.
