Show me your passion.

By buzibod written 8/23/07 8:57 PM, published 8/25/07 1:30 PM

My passion hmmm, I have alot of passions.  My first is my family and faith to follow this would be my love for the performing arts.  I danced all my youth and adult life and have retired to save my knees.  Now I have dabbled in my next favorite my art.  I love to paint, sketch, craft and sculpt.  But my newest is photography.  I love the meaning you can give to it without words.

We moved this summer and we were greeted by a new  friend.  She stayed for a little while.  She was real friendly and let our 2nd daughter get close to her.  Then one day poof she was gone with her eleven little babies.  So we went to clean what was left and found one little fellow left behind  Lucky .  She took toBri and became best friends.Bri snuggling lucky.   Lucky looking for her friend. We eventually had to take her to a nice big lake where there were others her age and let her go.  We had a good time while it lasted  Bri taking care of her buddy.

I love all types of subjects.  Kids are my favorite Emily doing her thing. Emily and the bubbles. Ms. E caught me. Friends and their children at the park and we got rained on. Autumn and Emily playing peek-a-boo.  But then My grandpa is neat too.

Then there are the things I find a scary face.   My hidden path. Dragon fly. Flower with rain drops. My sisters flowers in the morning.

Then while I was driving I saw this,  The big one. Big one 2.  Wow what a find, but not advisable going down the interstate.  I had fun sharing some of my passions with you.  Any advise to my finds would be welcomed.

This is the first year I've cultivated a passion flower vine. The surreal beauty of this bloom is hard to capture, but here goes.

This is a large, multilayered flower and now the thing is bearing fruit..not sure yet if its edible, I may give it to the potato to sample.

Has always been for the beauty that our Creator has given us:

From the grandure of the mountains:
Great Smokies
To the infinity of the sky:
river dock
To creatures that fly:
Fishing egret
And those that can't get off the ground:
black snake

Lately, tho, I've been fascinated by the infinitely beautiful world of macros:
Layered Drops palm drop white leaf drop Red Drops

Hope you enjoy my passions, too.

Be careful with your passion for photography. I wasn't.

By nomansland written 8/23/07 7:25 PM, published 8/23/07 7:25 PM

December 2006. I was driving back from New South Wales to Queensland. It was a lovely morning, without much traffic. My husband, who sat on the passenger seat, started to take some photos of the landscape. He leaned over the open window and started to shoot. I noticed that he didn’t have the camera’s strap around his neck and I started to be concerned: what if the camera will fall down or a bug will get smashed on the lenses? I turned my head for a few seconds towards him to make sure everything’s fine with the camera. Shortly after that it was clear where we were heading for.
We were not injured at all, and so was the camera, but the car was written off.
PS: Sorry for the quality of the photos, if not for the story, I wouldn't post them.

Passion: Latest and Greatest.

By loweho written 8/22/07 6:34 PM, published 8/23/07 10:37 AM

When we found out we were going to be grandparents about a year ago, I was mostly underwhelmed.  I thought it was great but not that big of a deal.  Man, was I wrong!  Besides partnering with Barb, Jaryd has been the greatest thing to ever happen to me.  There should be a way to have grandkids without going thru the hassle of having kids.  He's already my best friend and I cherish our time together.  I hope I live long enough to teach him everything I know.  Though some say that with what I know I could go anytime.

We put some water in a cheap plastic kid's pool and let him have his first "swim"!  It didn't take him long to get the hang of it and before long he decides to also try his first crawl around the yard.  Luckily, I herded him back into the pool before he could get chiggers!  After his swim, Barb, afraid I was going to hose her down or something, grabs him up and runs for the house.  After she got dried off she gave him a bath and the little guy fell right to sleep.  A great day, simple fun but the best fun!  Jaryd is my latest and greatest passion!

First Timer!
Herding! Barb took this shot!
Just Say NO to Crack!  A wide angle and closeups rarely yield flattering results.
Fear of Water!  Little blurry...hard to shoot camera and hose at same time.
Drained.

One of my passions

By RobinG written 8/21/07 11:26 AM, published 8/23/07 7:39 AM

Is watching the birds that hang out around my house.

We had a short but heavy down pour, I think it washed out one of this Distraught mama's baby.  It was pretty grown but guess couldn't fly well.  Another shot of herDistraught mama 1,  She kept flying around chittering, I couldn't do anything to help her.  She was feeding the next morning and seemed ok.

Here is another resident at my house Chickadee.

I took this shot while waiting for the hummingbirds to show up for food Nail

Have a great afternoon!  :o)

My passion Is Nature In All It's Forms

I was cleaning out my flower pots one day and at the bottom of one was this snake. It was very gentle and let me move it around so that I could photograph it. I used a macro lens to get the details.

One of my passions is a mystery

By Phantoms Wife written 8/21/07 12:48 PM, published 8/22/07 6:05 AM

Not that the passion is mysterious, but that I have loved a mystery since the early days of Nancy Drew. When I come upon a Hidden Door, I wonder where does it go and why was it hidden? Why did someone think they needed a Ladder to Nowhere? Did a mother ever  Rockabye her rockabye baby on this porch? And, is  Nature's Carving an accident, or is God just being artistic?

Day at Wrigley

By vtklin01 written 8/22/07 2:01 AM, published 8/22/07 2:01 AM

We started off by taking a subway to Linden to get to Wrigley. My fiancee and I took a Wrigley Portrait even though it was out of focus. We then proceeded to try to buy tickets from some scalpers who had a business right on their front porch. But their tickets were way overpriced, Cigar & Money, so I just decided to take some pictures of them. These were not nice guys. A good looking girl approached them asking for tickets thelooker and he proceeded to kiss her hand. When she found out they were selling these tickets for way too much, he decided to make a crude comment about her and they started to Laugh It Up. Then the The Dough Counter got back to business.
