Challenge: Angles

Thanks to JoJames1 for bringing us such a sinful and fitting Halloween-ish challenge and for asking me to present this next challenge...

So my friends the next challenge I bring to you is "All About Angles"...Being a stay-at-home mom I don't get out of the house much...lol…Which means I am very limited to photo opportunities...I started to find myself photographing the same subjects over and over again...Then I started experimenting with angles...I moved the camera higher...I moved the camera lower...I shot from the hip...I shot lying on my back or belly side down...I started to think of different angles to shot from to create different perspectives...Imagine yourself looking at an object or person from a mouse’s point of view...Or imagine a bug on the ceiling or a bird’s point of view...Shooting from a different angle can result in a much more interesting photo that otherwise may have resulted in an average photo…For example, some of you commented on my last post that you thought my pumpkin shot had good angles and perspectives…Well if I posted this shot  of the pumpkin I don’t think you would have made the same comments…Shooting in certain angle can also eliminate distracting objects making it a much better photo…
Here are some examples of my ANGLES:

Looking Up Angles: #1Looking Down Angles: #2
#2
On My Belly Angles: #1 #2
Side Angles: #1 #2
Crouching Angles: #1 #2

I realize for most of you this sort of idea comes to your mind each time you snap a photo…But maybe you can step out of your comfort zone…Position your bodies and cameras in ways to capture that unusual/different angle…Imagine looking through a mouse’s eye…Get down on your bellies…lol…I’m asking you to go out and find FRESH angles… Get that creativity flowing...I once read "the variety of perspectives that one can shoot images from is only limited by our imagination."

So get out there and go have FUN with new Angles…

Your next photographica challenge will be hosted by our “ Old Barns of America” coffee table book photographer Ashton…

I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Bugaboo and Charlie for the support and encouragement they gave me while I was working on this challenge… And thanks to all of you…I appreciate your talent and uniqueness…It’s such an inspiration to be a part of Photographica…

Sounds like a great challenge. You provided some good examples. Think I can do most angles, but will have to pass on the crouching. At my age, my croucher gets stuck! LOL

Being short, I am always working on angles. I don't crouch as easily as I used to so this will be a challenge. Thankyou Dragonfly for the good examples and this neat challenge.

sounds like a great challenge and it is wonderfully different....who do I call when I get stuck in the grass...? Perhaps the person who challenged me to crawl on my belly like a worm?

Sounds like a fun challenge. I was a little ahead of time with my cememtary shots that I was asked if I was laying on the ground to take. Oh well.....I love your angles you showed us. That is something I have always liked about your shots!

  • Cool challenge! I really love the grasshopper, it's just amazing! Turbo: I was also thinking of angels (because of the sidebar to the right that says so)... At first I couldn't see the relationship between the pumpkin and the angels
