WHAT CHRISTMAS MEANS
THIS IMG_1047 IS WHAT CHRISTMAS MEANS TO ME AND MY FAMILY
First Winter Storm
Well, it looks like it's going to be another tough winter like last year, so I guess we might as well make the best of it! Here is a shot of a branch on my lilac bush covered in ice and snow after last week's storm. frozenlilac
Bi-Weekly Challenge: "What Christmas means to me...."
This will be my kids and mine first Christmas without my wife, Tina. It's been a day-by-day thing. Some days are better than others. What helps is spending time with my nephew A.J. This is is his first Christmas. He was born on March 31, about 7 weeks after Tina's passing. He is pure joy. We all love him so much. And that head. Somehow he picked up the nickname "Angus" at a family gathering last weekend.
So... what Christmas means to me is family, especially the kids. Family Angus
Challenge: Bi Weekly Challenge ~ What does Christmas Mean to You!

I would like you to show what Christmas means to you. Please try to use new photos.

Giving thanks for all that I have GoodFood and family
I love all the beautiful trees and decorations Tree_and_Decorations although I haven't had a normal tree for years, as we always are in Nevada with my family. We just do a small tree so the cat wouldn't have a party in it.
I love to give gifts and see the smiles it brings, especially the kids! Gifts
Its great to see all the people who take the time to help others, I wish it could happen all year long!

Guardian of Rattlesnake Mountain
Actually made out of stones from the summit, all balanced. No binding of any kind that I could see. Someone has too much time on their hands. They should take up photography! Rattle_Hoo_Doo_small

Ice

If you live in the Northwest corner of Connecticut you get used to this.

Thanksgiving tradition?

A little late in posting these pictures from Thanksgiving. I shot one for the last challenge but wasn't able to get it posted in time.
This Thanksgiving my niece turned seventeen and one of her friends gave her a hookah pipe. It seems to be the rage among teenagers. There is no nicotene from the flavored smoke and they swear that they would never put anything illegal in it.
Here is Kala showing her grandma the Hookah pipe.
Everybody at the party gave it a try including her grandfather .
The following is from my wifes blog http://therandommemorandum.blogspot.com/2008/12/passing-peace-pipe.html
"Now in years to come and as memories fade, I may not remember if the turkey was moist or who made the pumpkin pie.
I won’t recall whether there was snow on the ground or if the temperature was mild. And I’m sure I’ll overlook that I probably gained 5 pounds.
But the one thing I’ll never forget is…
‘ Hookah Hank ’.
Swan Park South Carolina

This park contains seven natrually occuring species of Swans, including many other species of Ducks, Geese, and Cranes. I tried to find them all and had a relaxing day in the SC sun.
enhanced Although I dont usually like to modify pics.
I think the only relaxing day I ever had in SC.
Best wishes to all in Sumter, and Tatum.
