Challenge: Best of 2006 Contest!!!

It's that time of year again! It's the Best of 2006 photo contest. Please read this entire post before submitting your entry.

Here are the rules.

Each picture submitted had to be shot in the year 2006. It can be a picture we haven't seen yet, but it must have been taken in 2006.

We have 6 categories:
Best of 2006 Portrait
Best of 2006 Nature
Best of 2006 Building & Structures
Best of 2006 Things
Best of 2006 Animals
Best of 2006 Abstract

Anyone who wants to participate chooses only 1 category to enter and only 1 photo for that category.

To enter the contest put in the title of your entry post "Best of 2006 Entry(insert category here)". That way we could tag them appropriately to keep them separated.
Example: Say you wanted to enter a photo for the category Portrait. In the title of the post, you would put "Best of 2006 Entry Portrait".

To vote, write the word "vote" first in the comment section. Only 1 vote per category per person. Feel free to comment on any entry post.

Special note: I am not going to count the votes in the "vote" section. The reason being is that I am not able to track who the votes are coming from, and if someone has voted more than once in one category. Please continue to use the vote section to get the entries to the front page (that's important), but if you want your vote to count, please write the word "vote" first in your comment. I hope I explained that ok. :)
(!!!ATTENTION!!! Anonymous Hero votes will not be counted due to the nature of cheating. You must have an account to vote. Sorry.)

To view all entries, go to the Bi-weekly challenge section. Unfortunately the tags section isn't working to sort the entries by category. Sorry about the inconvenience. I'll see if I can figure out a way to sort them for easier viewing.

All entries for this theme and contest will take place for a 2 week period (just the same as a bi-weekly theme).

I will personally make an award for the winners myself. Afterwards I will send them to the winners if they choose to receive one(this is an option).

All submissions are due by 11:59pm(PST) on Saturday, January 13,2007. Any submissions after that time will not be entered in to the contest.

The next theme will start on Sunday, January 14,2007 as planned.

Voting period will end at 11:59pm(PST)on Saturday, January 20,2007. No vote will be accepted after this time.

Winners will be announced on Sunday, January 21,2007 after votes are counted.

Thanks for pulling this together Blizzard. This was lots of fun last year. You didn't mention anything about whether the picture had to be shot in 2006 or if it had to have been posted here in 2006. Do you think we need to clarify that?

Also if I remember correctly people started using up thier votes right a way last year. Then they found they liked other pics posted later better. So I would just remind people to wait to vote until later in the best of voting.

Oh yeah.....I knew i forgot something, Tom. :) I'll update it now. Penny is right. It's always best to wait until all the entries are in. Afterall, voting continues for a week after the deadline for entries ends. :) I'm also thinking about taking over the "My Photolog" section to place all the entries at the end of the contest. That way I can organize each category so it would be easier to view each entry and vote. I don't know yet, though.

Does the photo we post have to be one that we've already posted here during 2006, or can it be something shot in 2006 but never posted here?

I believe that the photo doesn't have to have been posted here previously, but it does have to have been shot in 2006.

It does not have to be a photo that was previously posted here on Photographica in 2006. The reason why I'm doing this is just in case someone is new here and wants to enter, they can. Just submit a photo that was taken in the year 2006, just be honest about it.
