All Stories: New
Look to the Sky

I don't know much about these guys, but I do know I enjoy photographing them. This time around they were both being rather lazy. But despite being lazy, he had an air about him. Like he might be a little better than everyone else. A little stuck up, with his nose up in the air.
Or maybe he was looking up because something got his attention.
The world may never know.
Here lizard lizard lizard

Actually the picture is of a green gecko. Many reside in my yard and can be seen regularly during the day. They come out without fear of people as long as you don't try to catch them. They do change color according their immediate environment. Colors range from light and dark browns to bright greens. They are interesting to watch and keep the bug population in check. The males have a flap called a dewlap that emerges during territorial conflicts and attempts at female attraction. I had just purchased my new camera when I took these photos so I wouldn't brag about them. Just another story. Enjoy
Summer's Inaugeral Launch Pad
School is almost out and summer is almost here....might as well be prepared for it and have The Launch pad ready. This just looked cool to me.
Blame it on Smally...

...if you don't like this post. About six weeks ago I posted shots from the greenhouses at Michigan State University that I took when I was bored. She said I should be bored more often. So two weeks ago I took one last voyage through the greenhouses before the students left this spring. I present for your perusal:
Comments are always welcome. Criticism too, but give me a chance to break out the rum first...
(By the way Smalls, I was only kidding. You're still my sexy texy saucy pirate wench!)
Little Things
" .... don't be affraid of a little color"
So, as I often try to do in life, I take life experience and attempt to learn and better myself from it. With that said I have taken all of the great advice offered to me, by the great folks on this site. I have shot this series both in color and with out my copyright frame... as always feedback is welcome....
catching the wind yesterday and in days past...

2 weeks after we had a rain/wind/hail storm, we had another one just like it yesterday. Not really much for showing the wind but I thought I would share anyway. Also, since it will be my 3 year Photographica anniversary, I thought I would post the very first shot that I posted here. And believe it or not it would be good for this challenge and was taken in Buggin's neck of the woods. Lol, I didn't realize that I was coming up on 3 years til I looked at my profile.windsurfer_sunset Hail_1 Hail_2
Red and Yellow...

My mother got some of the prettiest roses for Mother's Day yesterday. I think that they are just fantastic.
I hope all Mothers had a special day yesterday.
Geronimo Texas is
14 miles southwest of San Marcos on Hwy 123 to Seguin. My granfather would have called it a wide place in the road!
What a Zoo

- At the Como Zoo in St. Paul MN I came across this little poser...yes it proudly showed me it was a male. He stayed close to the window posing for a long time. What a Poser
- Then I visited the Lions. They were fun to watch. I had fun shooting through a chain link fence. The cool thing is with the lens filter the fence was not showing up, It is like Magic! Getting Frisky The King Poser
- Then came the flowers which I have never done close ups of before. I had to try the macro setting but I had my 200mm lens and wished I hadn't.Iris Lilly A Rose is a Rose
- The day was fun and Mom had fun on Mothers day. She too has never done any Macro stuff and did not know her camera was capable of doing it...that was funny.
Shades of Blue (past)

Photos from the past photographica since 2004 for the blue challenge.
Here kitty, kitty, kitty...

As promised, I got some pretty kitties today. You might remember the last time I went I got some shots of the Eurasian Lynx that had been separated from her mother and sister to come live at the Nashville Zoo. She was real antsy and constantly pacing on that visit. The keeper said they were introducing her to a young man behind the scenes that they hoped would calm her down.
I'm not sure if it was the spring warmth or her new companion, but she seemed a lot calmer and he was just a bundle of energy.
All comments are appreciated. Thanks for looking and have a great Monday!
Evening storm
Wind blowing in ominous clouds helped us determine that our evening stroll would be shortened due to the threatening speed at which they were moving overhead and the Wind moving a pretty serious storm in. Back at home I can hear it stirring through the trees and outside our windows with quite some force. Should be raining soon...
Some more horns for the band . . .

For Ashton and Buckmiester's band of Longhorns, here are a couple more, in a field near Big Sandy, Texas. They DO grow 'em big down there!!
Garden in Bloom

The flowers in my garden have been blooming for the last couple of weeks and they're really beautiful this year. I took a lot of pictures so I'll present them in segments

The Live Oak & Spanish Moss

- And you ask yourself --- uh well are the other Oaks dead then? I wondered too.
- The fact is that the Live Oak is actually related to the evergreen and remains green throughout winter while the other oaks drop leaves and look dead.
- Most times when I see a live oak it has a special little biological parasite called Spanish Moss, dripping from the large branches, sort of resembling a messy hair-do or a bad weave! However it falls, it diffuses light or offers reflective light and depending on how much moisture is in the Spanish Moss at that given time, sets up a nice situation for a photo.
- One of the trees in this series is commonly referred to as only; The Majestic Oak. It is over 360 years old, can you guess which one it is?
Double Diamond
Two for Mothers

Happy Mothers Day!
There is always a special bond between a mother and child which sometimes can be captured in a photo. I hope these two photos relay that bond. Enjoy!
Gypsy Women
In response to Ashton's recent post
Ashton, I don't know what you see in those scrawny Texas longhorns. Here are some real LONGHORNS.
Just kiddin' Ashton. I was born in Corpus and have spent a lot of time in the ole Lonestar State. Hope ya like the pics.
