Allegheny camping 2008 part 1, Animals that I saw (sorry no bear) ;(

By momof3pics written 8/29/08 7:54 PM, published 8/29/08 7:54 PM

Hurray, I can make a slideshow and put it in my story!!!!! Thank you Cory for fixing that. ;)

OK, thats out of the way, Now about the story.

My family and I went on our yearly camping trip to Allegheny state park and I have many photos to share. But I will try to keep it simple and in Parts. This first post is some of the animals that I got shots of. And just to let you know I seemed to become camera Stupid on the trip. I left some settings on my camera that I should have not used and when I got home to down load them I had to fix some of the photos. did my best but not trying to be a pro, just want to share.I put them into slideshows to make it less cluttered. The first slideshow is of birds, woodchucks, deer and a toad. Camping 2008

The last 2 bird shots are unknown to me so if anyone can identify them please do.

The second is small but is the Osprey that nest near the lake we go to swim at. They are there every year. This year there were 3 Young Osprey and they were fun to watch. This is where my bad setting became a problem. the back ground was way too over exposed and I did my best to make it better. these are the only two that I am willing to show.  camping 2008_2  Also a unknown moth.

Enjoy and all comments welcome. ;)

Slideshows, Popup Images, Mail

By coryking written 8/29/08 10:04 AM, published 8/29/08 10:04 AM

I *think* I fixed the issue people were having with slideshows.  For one, it doesn't stop working when you have a hard-core popup blocker like it used to.  For two, I made it a bit less complex, so that alone might fix things. Further, I upgraded the text editor I use to the latest version and while doing so discovered that I was using two versions at the same time!

Second, I fixed a bug where if you clicked on a link to your private messages in an email, it would sometimes crash photographica.

Third, I did some magic on the server to speed things up.

Fourth, I made it more obvious that you have to have an account to comment.

Fifth and finally, I improved the page that gets generated when things blow up in your dashboard.  Granted things shouldn't blow up, but at least now when they do it gives you a happy message and spews out a bunch of debugging information that will help me find the problem.

Update: This time, I think I really did fix the slideshow bug!

Mirror, Mirror on the wall....

By enigmaticfaerie written 8/29/08 4:43 AM, published 8/29/08 6:05 AM

.... who's the arch that's most delicate of all?

For those of you who have seen the delicate arch... Yes, you can actually go up to it.  But after 2 1/2 weeks of camping/hiking and the fact that I did hike the entire length of The Devil's Garden, I opted for just hiking the very small trail of the Delicate Arch Viewpoint rather than the very strenous climb to the arch itself.  I'm satisfied with my results for now because I really hope to go back there soon.  And if you look really closely in the color shot, you can see people at the arch.

Have a Happy and Safe Labor Day Weekend Everyone!!!!

Reap What You Sow!!

Tonight my daughter brought over some of the bounty from their garden.  This cabbage was fascinating on the inside, as well as delicious.  When it's cooked, the vivid magenta and white turns to all-over dark bluish purple.

It's lunch time, my daughter gets up and pops a corndog in the microwave. She says, "Dad do you want one".......

I'm working on my laptop, putting in recipes for my new place of business. I look at her corndog and think..."what the heck"...I'm lazy on my day off, but how hard is  lunch
