This little Devil stopped the three of us as we climbed to the canyon lookout on Kauai. It seemed to glow with a strange light that couldn't be found anywhere on that island, but perhaps it goes unseen in the same way that people who stand in the middle of Chicago can't see America. I think I captured a visitor deep within the jaws of this beast.

Occasionally, in the early morning light of the desert, the color of the sky refuses to match the color of the available hazy sunlight... This is one such occasion. There are times near either side of twilight when the sun and moon are indistinguishable...

It looked amazing in the high-sodium lights, like a row of teeth in the mouth of some mechanical killer. I thought about the shine at the very tip of a sharp knife and the way that that shine could be someone's life... A lot of power is infused on that specific micron of steel. A lot of power and a lot of terror.
