2007 Hawaii Trip

Hi everybody...I wanted to share some photos from our Hawaii honeymoon trip (my son and his wife). We took them to Hawaii for their honeymoon..... We landed on 12/23 and went to Pearl Harbor on 12/24. Here is the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor as we came up to it. It is pretty somber inside. The memorial straddles the Arizona on the bottom. The back room has a list of
Soldiers who died at Pearl Harbor.
The Arizona still leaks oil.... We had to wait awhile to get on the Navy vessel that carries you to the Memorial, my son and wife, the Newlyweds
enjoyed it as did we. My husband got very emotional and said that the two places he always wanted to visit were Alcatraz (see some of my other photos) and Pearl Harbor, and he never thought he would get to either one of them. We were told good-bye by Three brave young men...America's finest!
We left Pearl Harbor and drove towards Oahu's North Shore, famous for it's waves during the Dec/Jan months. We drove along On King Kamehameha Highway and saw Beautiful Mtns on Oahu.
There were alot of people surfing this evening on Oahu's North Shore surfers on Christmas Eve.... Here is Another surfer.....
The North Shore waves are supposed to be the biggest during the Dec. and Jan. months. It was hard to tell really how big they were unless you were in the water. The were beautiful, though and this is My best wave picture. Here is Another wave..... More story to come. We were there for 10 days!!

Bit by the Diving Bug
We went to Bermuda in the Summer of 2004....beautiful little island. Very nice people. I went 'Bell Diving', which is kind of like diving, but not. Anyway, that is where I got 'bit by the diving bug'. It is awesome to be underwater, breathing, and experiencing the world below the surface. In this photo, Stormin Norman, I am 'petting' a grey snapper. He actually lets you pet him. It is pretty neat. The photographer was the owner/guide of the trip. Of course, I had to buy this picture. I was, in case you didn't notice, ecstatic. I recommend bell diving to anyone who is curious about diving. ALOT of fun.
Saying Goodbye

I was perusing my pics and found these, what a story...
My husband travels ALOT for his job and occassionally I go with him. We were in Memphis, TN, and decided to go on a riverboat ride on the Mississippi. In the middle of the trip, the captian stopped the boat to accomodate a grieving_family. They were going to spread a family member's ashes in the river because she had always wanted to see the world....and they thought this was a good way to do it...down the Mississippi, out to the Gulf, and then...everywhere... I spoke with several family members and asked if they minded if I photographed such a personal event...they did not but wanted copies of the pictures, and I was more than happy to do for them. I shot some pics of them emptying her ashes in the river Goodbye_1,Goodbye_2, and thought what a lovely way to honor her. The final ashes were emptied, Off_to_see_the_World, and it was done. One of the family members gave me an email address to forward pictures to. I tried to send them 3 or 4 times but it always came back as a failed delivery. I hated that I could not give them the memory of that day in photos. This final picture is of what appears to be the youngest of the group, who I thought was absolutely adorabe. Cuite_Pie

2006 Manatee Trip

Hi, all. I wanted to post this story again as I screwed it up the 1st time (yesterday) by posting more than once on the front page. Sorry about that! Anyway...we go diving and snorkeling every year in Crystal River, FL. We usually dive first in Rainbow River . Lots of stuff to see. It is a drift dive, which means you don't have to swim a whole lot...and we were led by Ken, our fearless leader/instructor who taught us all how to dive. We always have a great time and run into some ominous looking creatures Alligator Gar, who by the way, reached up to about 4 feet long. They didn't bother anyone, though. At one point, I lost my camera. I freaked out...it was attached to my wrist one minute and gone the next....luckily my friend and hero saw it floating and snagged it for me...I was sure a divorce would follow if I had lost it (hehehehe). There are springs bubbling all around on the river bottom and are really neat to see. After the dive, we go snorkeling with the Manatees, truly beautiful and gentle creatures. Here are some pics ot them.

Snorkeling with Manatees

We go snorkeling every year with the Manatees and Birds Underwater, Inc., in Crystal River, FL. They are truly amazing creatures and so friendly and gentle. Here are a couple of the better pictures I got this year on our last trip. If you ever have the opportunity to do this, don't pass it up! DESCRIPTION_HERE DESCRIPTION_HERE
The Two that Got Away...

My husband, myself and a bunch of friends go every year to snorkel with the Manatees in Crystal River, FL. We also dive in Rainbow River on the same trip. It's a gorgeous dive, shallow and fun. I saw these two big boys and salivated that I could not catch them....! They did not want to be bothered and were swimming up current (which is very strong) and there is no way I could have followed. So, I did the next best thing..... a picture!
The Jump

My husband and I were in Cades Cove, in TN a couple of years ago. It was rutting season and deer/bucks were everywhere. They are fairly tame in the park as they are used to visitors and know that they will not be hurt. Well, he was trying to gather his harem together and a stray female was on the right side of the road when all his others were on the left side. I got this shot after he had shooed her back into the group and he was returning to his 'women'. I used my husband's Cannon digital Rebel. Great camera.DESCRIPTION_HERE
