    My name is Karen and my love of photography started when I was in high school.  I had a Canon AE-1 with all the lenses, auto winder, flashes and a complete darkroom set-up (for black & white).  

    The next 30 years were dedicated to school, work and family and the majority of the pictures I took was with the throw-away cameras.  Then came the digital revolution and I purchased a Sony DSC-P200 and was very surprised at how good the pictures were and little bit of the photo bug in me started to come back.  I even started making a calendar for my family members for Christmas using my photos.

    I retired a few years ago (if you can afford to retire at 46, I HIGHLY recommend it!) and decided I wanted to spend more time taking pictures.  For my birthday last April, I purchased a Canon Rebel XTi with a 18-55mm lens, a 75-300mm lens and a wide angle lens. plus all the goodies.  I have had so much FUN with this camera and am just tickled at the quality of pictures.  Being able to take as many shots as I like with no thought to the developing and printing costs is liberating.

    My first trials with this camera was shooting my husband at the track on his motorcycle and a trip to Chicago.  I have 3 trips planned this summer and can't wait!

    Finding this website and seeing all the great photos here has fueled my inspiration.  Thanks!

    I don't know that I am "Artist" enough to even have a statement.  I love pictures of the unusual and try to see things from a different angle.
