Dealing with Pain

By Jeff52 written 8/25/06 9:33 PM, published 8/25/06 9:33 PM

My wife is one of those 'chosen ones' who has chronic migraines. When it comes to migraine headaches cool and dark is best!

Our Doxie, Amber, takes really good care of her when she is dealin' with the pain.

Morning Workout ACTION!

By Jeff52 written 6/14/06 2:38 PM, published 6/14/06 2:38 PM

My wife and I work out almost every morning. We do an in-chair aerobics work out and our pets join in on the exercise. Julius smeezer is our flame point Siamese and Amber is our long haired Doxie. There is a lot more action going on, on the floor and under the furniture than there is in the chairs!
Enjoy!Popup LinkJ1

Using "Natural" Light

By Jeff52 written 5/16/06 8:04 PM, published 5/16/06 8:04 PM

This is a use of a different form of available light, infrared.
I was running into problem taking pictures of a friend of ours' child in a dimly lit restaurant. I didn't want him to avoid the camera or get testy (and quite possibly noisy) while shooting pictures of him in the restaurant booth. So after shooting several frames at slow shutter speeds in available light I switched over to the night shot function on my Sony F828, Cybershot. I later tweaked it in Photoshop Elements and got a nice skin tone on the little boy. When printed out it looks like a hand tinted photograph! Popup LinkPorcelain Baby

It is spring in our garden and I have seen a few of these guys already.  Popup LinkA Bug's Lunch     Popup LinkMoth on Red Flower These are actually from previous summers. I'll be stalking some more as the weather continues to warm up. I thought I'd include one of
Amber napping with her best friend, Julius Smeezer. Popup LinkA and J  Maybe I should use it as a holiday card, Peace on earth and all that.

My First Posting

By Jeff52 written 4/26/06 4:01 PM, published 4/26/06 4:01 PM

This is my first posting. I have been enjoying all of your postings for a while now. So I guess that it is about time I "put myself out there" and start contributing and commenting. I look forward to your comments and advice.

Most of the photos I am taking now are within a small radius of where I live. I am constantly looking for photo ops while walking our Doxie, Amber Popup LinkAmber on leash
She is one of those dogs that has to stop often and check her "mail" so there is time to take photos while she is busy. She is a very alert dog and really enjoys her walks in the little park near our house. Popup LinkAmber at the Park

I got turned on to macro-photography back in the Jurassic age while I was taking a photo class in college, so now I can do all this great digital macro work on the flowers and critters I find while the dog and I are out on our walks. Popup LinkDew on Lantana

Some of the critters I take pics of are a little icky-creepy Popup LinkSpider on Hose  and some are rather humorous Popup LinkHouse Boating

As I said earlier, I look forward to all of you folks' critiques.

Thanks,
