Don't pass me by, Don't make me cry, Don't make me Blue

By Jump1ok written 8/17/06 7:33 AM, published 8/17/06 7:33 AM

The afternoon heat was once again unbearable. Temperatures reaching the triple digits. I stood in the afternoon sun watching the storm in the Popup Linkdistance. "Come this way and relieve our suffering" I shouted. The cloud did not hear my pleadings. In fact it seemed to stop and watch me as the sun  Popup Linkdescended into night.
At least somebody enjoyed the rain.

Challenge: PAIN AND SUFFERING a Bi-Weekly challenge

By Jump1ok from Aug 12, 2006, to Aug 26, 2006
Special thanks to our favorite Mistress for the last challenge.

We all have experienced Pain and Suffering. We are introduced to it at the moment  Popup Link of birth. We then spend the rest of our lives searching for it and avoiding it.
We avoid it because of its inherent unpleasant nature. We search it out because of our need to connect and identify with our fellow man. The very sight of another suffering ignites something in the very recesses of our soul that compels us into some form of action.
Pain and Suffering will undoubtedly bring up disturbing thoughts, do a little research and you find a certain necessity behind it. The stories of pain and suffering are contained in every religious text, every myth, and every great novel. Every great thing is born from pain and suffering.
Popup LinkDoctors profit from it
Popup LinkSometimes it is hard to see the cause
Popup LinkSometimes watching others experience it is funny
Popup LinkSometimes we do it alone
So look to the bright side of this challenge. Have FUN with it.

Back Experimenting

Tonight it was actually cool enough to sit outside with my wife and gaze out at our yard. In the distance was a wonderful Popup Linkstorm cloud. I snapped a couple pictures and quickly realized that I wish I had a zoom lens.
(This where the experimintation begins)
I grabbed my pair of binoculars (why we call them a pair I do not know, afterall it is all one piece) place it up to the camera and snapped a couple more shots of the  Popup Linkcloud.

and a bonus just for Jam

Summer Yum

By Jump1ok written 8/7/06 8:54 AM, published 8/7/06 8:54 AM

Feeding the child is an experience to behold. In one sitting you will witness a whole variety of emotions. In that same sitting you will feel a whole variety of
emotions.

Erma Bombeck put it this way, "Kids are without a doubt the most suspicious diners in the world. They will eat mud (raw or baked) rocks, paste, crayons, ball-point pens, moving goldfish, cigarette butts, and cat food. Try to coax a little beef stew into their mouths and they look at you like a puppy when you stand over him with the Sunday paper rolled up."

So for your enjoyment we present Roslin and the Pears with Vegetable and Bacon dinner.

Experiments in thermodynamics

By Jump1ok written 7/17/06 8:11 PM, published 7/17/06 8:11 PM

It is Monday afternoon, middle of summer, hot and oppressive, and very silent through my laboratory. The stifling air brought forth a flood of tales from my childhood. My grandfather's voice ringing, in the now slightly molten recesses of my memory, tells me that "it's hot enough to fry an egg out there!"
An experiment is in order. I grab an egg and head out into the abomination of the midday sun. I crack it on a rock and empty it upon the weathered surface.
There it shall fry, frail and fair, under the sun,
Oh little embryo, your yellow yolk, till day be done,
And the shadows gather, boiling light, and, white for you.......
*******
so sorry the heat has had adverse effects upon me..

Painting the Baby Room on the Fourth

By Jump1ok written 7/4/06 4:19 PM, published 7/4/06 4:19 PM

The Baby room was a horrid depressing brown color. We decided to change all that. So we spent the day painting it a wonderful green. Then I decided that a childs room should be fun. The wife and I have always loved A.A. Milne so picking a theme was easy. I always loved Ernest Shepards illustrations of Milnes wonderful tales. So I decided to pay homage to both in my childs room.

More Experiments

By Jump1ok written 6/9/06 8:40 AM, published 6/9/06 8:40 AM

Experiments are fun. They often fail more than they succeed, yet still the excitement of discovery drives one to test the limits. Sometimes, though rarely, I learn something useful..
so here are the results of experiments holding a variety of glasses in front of the subject and lense of my point and shoot camera...
Popup Linkresult 1 (learned a little)
Popup Linkresult 2 (Useful indeed)
Popup Linkresult 4 (probably will not repeat this experiment)
Popup Linkresult 4 (anyway it was fun...)
