Simple and Pretty

I love the simple beauty of flowers, the little details you get with a close up shot reveals that nature holds such beauty for us, if we'll only stop to look.

My Passion Is Nature In All It's Forms

My passion Is Nature In All It's Forms

I was cleaning out my flower pots one day and at the bottom of one was this snake. It was very gentle and let me move it around so that I could photograph it. I used a macro lens to get the details.

Our Little Miracle...

Our Little Miracle

At the time of this story I worked at a shelter for unwanted animals. One night in late fall a woman dropped off a card board box with two kittens in it. When we cleared all the garbage away we discovered a third kitten. We thought he was dead as there was no movement from him. I volunteered to take these kittens home and try to save their lives, the third and smallest kitten wasn't expected to live through the night. My mother had just lost her mother and was in a deep depression and when I brought the box into her bathroom she showed little interest..., that is until she saw the tiny little feeble thing that looked like a piece of trash. She immediately took the baby and put him inside her shirt to warm him and I made an mad dash to the store to buy kitten formula. Mom managed to get the baby to take a few drops, he was so weak that he couldn't manage any more. I took the other kittens and fed them and put them in a basket by my bed so I could wake up for nightly feedings. My mom wouldn't let go of that smallest one though. We asked the Lord to take him if he saw fit but we promised the little bundle of fur that his life would be filled with comfort and love if he decided to live. That night was sleepless, my mother slept with the baby under her shirt next to her heart and I went in several time to see if he still had a heartbeat. The next day was the first of many miracles, the kitten had lived and was hungry! His appetite grew and so did he, despite all the vets telling us that he would die during the night. The other kittens thrived as well but the little one who was quickly christened "Bunny" was my moms baby. He brought her back from the dark depths of grief from the loss of her mother. I believe that God sent us this tiny thing to tell us that life is beautiful and happiness is always possible no matter how dark someones life might be at the time. The other kittens soon grew strong enough to be weaned and all of them found homes but Bunny was my mother's baby. She carried him around in a basket and gave him several bottles of milk a day until out vet threatened that the constant milk feeding would make the now "should have been weaned long ago kitten ill". I always loved to watch my mother feed bunny his "bobba" and it was sad when we had to change him over to kitten chow. He has be nothing but a constant joy to us all. Now in 2007 he weighs a whopping 13.5 lbs and is the king of the house. He is a funny little character with his short legs and tiny tail. But he is our baby, Our Miracle.
