I thought my photo at Snowbird resort would be fun to share for the still waters challenge. It's a bit over exposed since I was forced to use my old camera.  Mountain pond in the fall at Octoberfest, Snowbird resort, Utah.

A fall weekend

A few people in my family decided we should go up to Octoberfest at Snowbird resort, Utah to enjoy some fall fun.  Entrance to Octoberfest I've never been to either Snowbird resort or Octoberfest so naturally, my camera was the first thing in the car. I'm unfortunately missing a piece for my new camera, so I resorted to my little pocket sized one and thus, the quality is not what it could be. It was still alot of fun, I was a little disappointed that there were so few tents to check out and only 2 of which actually sold anything European related at all!  Some traditional beer steins There was a  food and entertainment tent and a traditional  German band with a musician who also played the  alpenhorn at intermission. Many people dressed in lederhosen and other traditional German style outfits for the occasion and everyone of them  Dancing down memory lane to the music. After we ate, we went on a nature hike and admired the views including this unique  mountain with beautiful striations . As I was leaving, I took a picture of the changing leaves over this  Mountain pond. What excellent, crisp fall weather to enjoy Octoberfest. I hope one day to go participate in the real thing in Germany, now that would be a treat!

Out and about this summer, I had taken pictures along various roads; this one alongside the cemetary road  DSC00967 , walking around my neighborhood I admired the beauty of these purple flowers growing out of a crack alongside the road DSC01045 , out for a hike with my boyfriend I got these shots of the trail road ahead  DSC00929 winding around the foothills  DSC00932 and at our neighborhood/city street fair, the road was closed off to vehicles but this one found a loop hole  DSC01213 , there were so many cute dogs  Happy in the shadows trying not to get lost in the crowds DSC01238 , some had to be picked up  This adorable pug and all were enjoying sights, Beverly Hills Bakery , local art  Local art sounds and smells (or for the olfactory impared; you can follow the sausages to the vendor DSC01230 ). Further down the road we spied some Funky wood art / toys or lawn ornaments (whatever you want them to be!), Spray painted art  and I happen to think Gourd art is so fun! Although I don't know how to make it yet. Although we didn't get out much, we did have a fun summer. :)

Yes, that really is his name and title right now, he served in the infantry at Fort Benning, Georgia and pretty much didn't get any sleep for 4 months so he looks super tired in these shots because he was up for 3 days straight in addition to that just before coming back getting only an hour here and there. What would I do?  Mom and Holly waiting in anticipation My family made a carpool and picked a few of us up from far out locations and all headed over to the airport with our balloons,  My niece Dakota waiting. flags and a homeade "welcome home" sign  My proud and hopeful mother. and waited for about 20 minutes in anticipation for his arrival.  Private Ryan is finally here! Not everyone is in the pictures because everyone was moving so fast and he was in no mood to keep posing for pictures, so I got what I could Mother and son moment... . A few of his friends met us at the airport, we all went and helped him find his rather enormous duffel bag,  Carrying his 80 lb bag on the way to the parking garage. hung out in the parking garage for a bit  My brother and I (my neice took this one) in the parking garage. and took him out to dinner (everyone got steaks but me since I'm a vegetarian) and he told us a few stories At a restaurant he tells us bootcamp stories.  and what it was like. We all kept correspondence with him via mail (actual snail mail) the whole time he was gone, it seemed to help the homesickness. He's home for about a month now till he ships back out. Next leave will be for the holidays. :(  We're enjoying his company while he's here though! He's a tough and funny guy.

Evening storm

Wind blowing in ominous clouds helped us determine that our evening stroll would be shortened due to the threatening speed at which they were moving overhead and the Wind moving a pretty serious storm in. Back at home I can hear it stirring through the trees and outside our windows with quite some force. Should be raining soon...

  1. We went out for an evening stroll and everyone was out enjoying the long awaited warm weather, including alot of cats. I happened to get a great shot of this cat Front porch Blues as he/she was relaxing next to some blue pots. Walking around you discover things that you didn't know were there, such as thisSide alley, and this Old road. I'll bet this Escape artist knows the neighborhood much better than I do!

The world behind glass and other small enclosures....

Lemur and I connecting My boyfriend and I went to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City. I was naturally taking pictures of everything and he was patiently waiting while I kept fidgeting for the best shots. We enjoyed seeing all the animals but left feeling really sad and disappointed at how small the animal enclosures are and how unhappy and defeated they all looked. I'd give money if I knew it would go to helping the animals but the last million dollars went to making the entrance bigger! Oh well, the pictures keep me motivated to try and help them how and when I can, and hopefully other people too. Mother and baby (Gibbons?)
