New Surroundings

Recently, I transplanted to a new city. My school commute is longer .... but I needed the new environmental stimuli.

That's me, 1603. Actually, it is more my roommate ... but I'm here too. I've never lived anywhere where alleyways were common. But where else do you put the garages?

There are some cool parks nearby. However, the view is getting old there and I already need to seek out some new spots.

Just yesterday, the rain came through. Some stormy clouds are still lingering, though. The waters were muddy in the back harbor.

It's being surrounded by views like this everyday that I signed up for. THAT is why I moved out here.

LladrĂ³

My grandparents used to collect Lladrós (or porcelain statuettes). Recently, I had the privilege of photographing them. It was a bit difficult, since the porcelain is highly reflective/glossy .... but I managed to pull off some decent shots (after shooting some of them a few times to eliminate unwanted reflections and glare). Let me know what you think.

Random Shots

I got some good shots of some friends of mine, recently. They are brothers who share a goofy sense of humor. I tried to capture parts of their personality in the photos but I don't think they always carried over as well as I had hoped.

Big Brother - the more light-hearted and jovial of the two. He loves porn. Sometimes he can be a little hard on himself.

Little Brother - the more sarcastic and scientific brother. He's got a salt-water aquarium (or three) and loves his accessories. Also, he likes to play in the dirt (sometimes he gets stuck).

Just because I don't want to post only two pics, i figures i could include these here: Beautiful clouds fill the sky (with wide-angle adaptor)

First Day of Studio Fun

I just got some new studio equipment (toys for my amusement, really). I think I might need another light or two ... but i've been having a blast finding that out. I would appreciate any experience-informed comments or criticisms, as I am very interested in improving to professional quality. Here are some of the random things around my house that were small enough to be accomodated:

| toy | pendant | glasses | dragon | tiki | basketball | eagle |

Marine Aquarium

Recently, I started a nano cube (12 gallon) salt-water aquarium. I had one fish at first. Then, I added some snails and crabs to clean up the rock and substrate. After a few days, I decided it was time to add two more fish. Bad idea ... the largest of the three became a terror who required constant policing. So I got rid of him ... and this is what is left.

My favorites to watch:
| Coral | Tube Worms | Dwarf Hermit Crabs | Yellow-tail Damsel | Domino Damsel | Blue Devil Damsel |

Cal Poly Pomona, in Spring

It had been a while since I had taken any pictures worth showing to anyone and I woke up feeling drawn down by the day-to-day routine. So, on this smoggy spring day, I took my camera to school with me (again).

It was calm by the stream:

There was an amazing tree calling me:

And, yet, the world was still spinning elsewhere:

It's wierd .... somehow, taking my camera to school with me made the day a whole lot better. I never noticed how awesome my campus was until I saw it on screen.

After the rains come the CLOUDS

I had the day off from school and work was a few hours away. The day before, there was plenty of rain and wind to wash away the smoggy cloud that contaminates our air and sky. It was the perfect opportunity to take a few pictures. So I took them.

| My first instinct was to contrast the bright clear sky against the dark silhouettes of the trees around my house. | Then, I focused more directly on the clouds along with the sun. | After that, I thought that the picture might be better served without the sun. | The local water tower was quite a site. | Even my street looked like a snow globe without the snow. |

Utah in the Winter

Being from Southern California, I don't get a chance to play in the snow much during the wintertime. When my brother moved to Salt Lake City, I got a chance to see a season that normally shuns my hometown.

| Frost-bitten Road Sign | Tracks of a Resident | Bright Mid-day Stop | At the Foot of the Mountain | Great Tree / Sky Combo| Sun Breaking through the Cloud | The Horizon down the Street | Trees in the Valley | Wintertime Forest Border | Thawed River | Shack and Tree | Salt Lake City |

CSU Pomona, CA

I decided to photograph part of my weekly experience at school. It was a windy day, following some light showers. The sky was beautiful and the air was clean (for once). I go to the California State Polytechnic University of Pomona (www.csupomona.edu). I love the interesting CLA building and the pronounced presence of trees throughout the campus. I hate trying to find parking in a lot that makes disneyland or even the mall seem somewhat friendly. Check it out:

My brother moved from southern California to the capital of Utah. So I tagged along. Naturally, we had to make good time (which meant as few stops for pictures as possible). These are from our trip through the desert.

I went to visit family and was amazed to find that smog does not cloud all of CA. The beach is always nice too.

I have a friend who has an amazingly atmospheric backyard that is reminiscent of Vietnam. It is great for parties and family events. I've been to a few, they have great food. Enjoy
