I perused my good old Webster looking for "texture". Out of the various definitions offered there this one suited me best; "the visual or tactile surface characteristics and appearance of something".

I like this way of street photography, low iso value, low shutterspeed, wait and let the street generate the action.

So the cyclist flashes through the image. Not sure if he is heading for the 'cheap around the corner'.

btw, if you are interested, Centrum Hotel is at the Warmoesstraat, the centre of the red licht district.

All shots were made on the streets of Amsterdam.

• "alone" At a street party in De Pijp.
  
• "down" This poor fellow stumbled through a crowd on Leidseplein.
  
• "strange" Dam square.

 

Being an Amsterdam based street photographer, I chose some signs that might shed some light on the dutch way of life. Well on the other hand, perhaps it's more the way I perceive dutch life.
