Grew up on the Central Coast of California in the 1950's, former Navy submariner, Cal Poly grad in Elect Engineering.
Moved to beautiful green, soggy Washington State in the 1980's, retired to an island seven years ago to write a novel, moved back to the mainland in June of 2006.
Love blue water sailing, have been a passionate photographer
all my life, starting with a Brownie at 10! Ever stare into the eyes of an Orcas whale?
Artist's Statement
Photography and creative writing have a lot in common ..... both attempt to share the artist's feelings and are a conveyance to the viewer/reader. Capturing the moment is what it is about, you become better in both methods, with time, with dedication and with moments of stark clarity ...... plus it is a whole hell of a lot of fun! Never be afraid to honestly be YOU!
Camera Equipment
Some old Polaroid cameras, am old Argus and later on in life when it seemed the right thing to do and money wasn't a worry ....... the Canon family of : a 10D, a 20D and the newest member of the clan... a 5D. Three tripods, a pile of studio lighting, three hard Pelican cases filled with way too many lens, all three of the latest photo flashes, remote releases, and anything else Canon offers that looks interesting.
Special Note: There is no way I could do all this unless I was single!
Favorite Photographers
Of course Ansal Adams, many French photgraphers and so many of the younger new photographers that "push" the digital media.
Then there are all those that frequent this web site, fine and courageous souls, bearing their essence and creativeness for all to see. I truly enjoy my daily visit, to experience each and every "sharing". The transparent personalities of Surfer Guy, and so many others is more than half the fun ..... for all that, I say a genuine "Thank You".
