Pembnroke, Georgia. Installment (1)

Pembroke was named after Judge Pembroke Williams,a prominent local resident of the late 1800s. The City was a rail hub for naval supplies and farn produce for most of its existence, and was eventually chartered by the state in 1905.
As was true for so many small towns of the rural South, Pembroke's inception was dependent upon the railroad. It was one of the lucky sites, inasmuch as the "train stopped there." It's sister town, Ellabell, was
not so lucky when the train passed her by. According to historians, Pembroke came into existance when the Savannah and Western Railroad extended its line from Meldrim, Georgia, to a point 32 miles west of Savannah.

Its been about six months off line.
Went to Lake Mayer Park and took some photos of the Geese. Thought it would be a good place to start.

The morning was crisp and clear as I was walking the dog along the lake. The shadows were coming off the trees as the sun rose, the lake had a mist from the cool air and the trees were changing color. Wow, what nature can do!  Yesterday I took a trip out to the hunting camp. I also took along the camera and was able to take some shots of the color out in the deeper part of the woods. Most shots are taken along the old loging trails from the 20s. enjoy.Popup LinkFall Color 1 Popup LinkFall Color 2 Popup LinkFall Color 3 Popup LinkFall Color 4 Popup LinkFall Color 5 Popup LinkFall Color 6

The fall color is almost at its peek around this area. I took these shots along the road to my house. Many people have asked where I live. The location is Boulder Junction Wisconsin. Its a great time to see the color and to go Musky fishing.Popup LinkColor 1 Popup LinkColor 2 Popup LinkColor 3 Popup LinkColor 4

This morning I awoke to a great view out my back door and across the pond. The colors changed to a nice yellow and reds along with the green of the spruce trees.
