Poinsettias

By Taz92493 written 11/7/06 12:40 PM, published 11/8/06 1:37 AM

It's hard to think about getting ready for Christmas when it's 75 degrees outside but some of the Poinsettias are almost ready to ship.

Sometimes though, things don't quite turn out as planned!

Dare to be different.

The only PS I did to these is cropping.

Thanks for looking.

Tribute post

By Taz92493 written 11/15/05 6:02 PM, published 11/15/05 6:02 PM
This tribute goes to everyone who posts and/or comments here on Photographica (yes, Beholden, this includes you!)  Although I have only been here for a couple months, I have learned much not only about taking pictures, but as Pyro said "Coloring outside the lines" and stepping outside of what I would usually point my camera at.
To put it simply, I am starting to see the world differently.  Where I used to look and see only Popup Linkthis, now I also see Popup Linkthis.  Before I only saw Popup Linkthis, now I see Popup Linkthis, and Popup Linkthis as well.  Before I only saw Popup Linkthe big picture, now I also see the interesting Popup Linkperspectives and Popup Linksmall pieces.  And I had completely given up on ever getting a decent shot of the Popup LinkMoon.
I have always liked to take macros of flowers, it kinda comes with the terratory of working in a greenhouse, but I have found that they are starting to look better too. Popup LinkZygoBud Popup LinkZygo1 Popup LinkZygo2

So here is my Thank You to everyone here for sharing your pictures, stories and advise. and as always, I look forward to hearing what you all have to say about my pictures.

Learning the new camera

By Taz92493 written 11/3/05 5:03 PM, published 11/3/05 5:03 PM
I recently got a new camera and I've been trying to learn all it's settings.  Here's some of the pics I've taken recently.

Done for the Popup Linkday.

I fired up the grill to cook some porkchops and was playing while I wasPopup Linkwaiting Popup Linkfor the Popup Linkcoals to be ready.

Just a Popup Linkcouple Popup Linkmushroom shots.

And finally a shot that would have make my co-workers wonder about my sanity if they saw it.  We were pouring Popup Linkconcrete at work.

Explaining Myself

By Taz92493 written 10/23/05 9:19 AM, published 10/23/05 9:19 AM
I've been lurking for a few weeks now and I figure Penny's theme has given me the perfect opportunity to introduce myself to you.
I live in Iowa, have been married for 12 years and have 2 boys.Popup Linkfamily Popup Linkson1 and Popup Linkson2.  We enjoy traveling and have seen some great monuments.Popup Linkmonument1 Popup Linkmonument2.  I have always enjoyed nature and like to take shots of the sky.Popup Linksunbeam Popup Linkmoon risePopup Linksunset
I've been fulltime at my job for 14 years and have worked part time there since I was about 10 (it was a family buusiness then).  Here are a few hints at what we do.Popup Linkwork1 Popup Linkwork2 Popup Linkwork3 Popup Linkwork4
Only after we purchased our 1st digital camera a little over 2 years ago did I become interested in photography and just recently when I was asked to take candids at a cousin's wedding Popup LinkBride I realized how little I actually know about camera settings and working with different lighting situations.  I have already learned much just by reading your comments about the pictures posted here andlook forward to hearing what everyone has to say - positive or not - about the photos that I have to post.
