If you ever get a chance to visit this ghost town, it is an amazing opportunity for photography. Everywhere you look amazing compositions pop out. Here are a few shots I took:

Went with my family down to Malibu Beach State Park and camped with our small tent trailer. I took a few shots that I really liked and thought I would share.

My favorite is this sunset shot

I also got this nice shot at the dog show

Here is a cool shot taken from the car window

A cool picture of the moon

And my wife and the show dog hanging out at the  campsite

Weekend in Yosemite

Spent the weekend in Yosemite. What a challenging place to photograph!  The most amazing aspect of the park, besides the incredible beauty, is the scale, which seems virtually impossible to convey via a photograph.  It is also a challenge to take pictures that are not ordinary like this one. I did make a few attempts at the  surreal. But the beauty was both big and  small. In the end, you could go out of your tree trying to capture it all. I think I need to get a polarizing filter.

Photos from Florida

Last week I went with my family to florida where we hung out for the week.

We went to Disney's Animal Kingdom where we saw some very cool animals such as this huge bat and a tiger.

We also saw some cool trees and interesting flowers.

Finally at the end of the day, we had a nice house to stay in.

Unfortunately I missed the Architecture theme.  Here are a few shots that I took with that theme in mind

This last one doesn't really fit the archetecture theme, but I like the photo anyway.

Scotland

In South Western Scotland last spring my wife and I stayed near an ancient burial ground called a Cairn. We also visited some other ancient stone  circles, which were not used for burial purposes.  In fact, no one knows exactly what they were used for.  They make for some cool pictures though.  Here is one more of the cairn that my wife took.  The fog was just incredible.

These two photos were actually taken last winter, in Boston.  I came across them recently and I liked them.  I hope you enjoy them

Usually, the dog is chasing the cat around.  Or the cat is chasing the dog around.  This is a rare moment of stillness. It is too bad about the focus, but there just wasn't enough light.  Otherwise, I think it is a pretty cool photo.

Here are two photos I like of my dog Nimo.  Nimo is short for Geronimo.  He has three legs.  My wife got him from an animal shelter in Boston when we lived there.  He supposedly jumped from a third story window and he was brought into the animal hospital/shelter by a neighbor with a shattered left front leg.  Hense the name. I drove across the country with him last summer, and he is just a wonderful companiion.

The attached abstract image I found on a digital camera at the school where I worked last year.  I kept the image, because it is so striking.  I have no idea who took it or what it was supposed to be a picture of, if anything. It has not been photoshoped or altered in any way. Has anyone else found interesting images or taken interesting accidental shots?

Yes, it's a Table

Somebody asked if the photo I posted yesterday was legs for a table, and if I would post a picture of the finished table.  Indeed they are, and here it is.  The table top is made from Plyboo - bamboo plywood.  Just a beautiful material.  I have made a few tables out of this stuff and the galvanized steel pipes.  They make a nice combination of industrial look and elegance.  A friend saw the dining room table I had made and wanted one for herself.
