I would have gotten a better picture of the heron, but as I took a close up of him as he flew away...he screamed/called which sounds sort of like a cross between not quite getting your car in gear while shifting and a pterodactyl with indigestion. Anyways its call startled me so what do I do in the middle of pressing the shutter? I turn the camera around mid-click to look at my camera's lens. "Gee my camera never made that noise before!" I won't be that dumb again. hopefully.

Okay, I've been away from Photographica for a few months, but in scanning the Q & A and in the forums I haven't noticed anything to clue me in on what I think I may need clueing in on.

Okay. I uploaded a couple of photos of ducks tonight. These photos I did not think merited being on the front page so I did as I have in the past with photos like this, I put them in my photolog.

But when I click on "main" to bring me to the front page here, I saw my post, as well as in the photolog. I did indeed select "my photolog" and not "general photography" for the section.

Did I goof up? Has something changed? Am I just remembering something incorrectly?

It's been far too long since I've uploaded anything at all to Photographica.  These aren't great by any means but I think I need to upload at least something in order to motivate myself to get out there and take some more pictures.

The picture of the duck was actually taken at eye level with the water as I laid on the pier. Took about 5 or 6 pictures, all not very good but this one's probably the best. You'd think that lying down in duck poop would appease the photography gods enough to bestow upon me one killer snapshot, but noooooooooooooo.

Toying with photoshop this morning. Became my hero for a bit. lol. Spoon!

Was strolling by a river the other day and took a couple of shots. The shadows  on this foot bridge were nice. Took a shot of a gull on a post that I played with in photoshop a bit. Probably could've made it brighter though...got tired of tinkering with it. lol

Attempted another shot at taking some decent still life shots. I think using a movable lighting source would help add some shadowy depth. But didn't, so wyah.

Here's Still life with Joey. Another one with different perspective, and here's what happens when you need to regain control of your evenings.

Gathered up a few items and placed them on the table.  Discovered that I had no good way of eliminating or blocking the background images from other room and still life shots from above just didn't do much for me.

Arranging the items was a challenge as I can't even arrange my sock drawer.

Just joined at the recommendation of a friend. This site looks pretty nice. Found a couple of insect shots I took. Here's the dragonfly one and here's the butterfly one. Hope you like them.
