Feeling fruity

Here is a closeup of a genetically engineered wonder - a wingless fruitfly - Drosophila melanogaster. This guy is a little under 2mm long - and his eyes tell the story that he obviously had a rough night.....
The Eyes Have It....

Here are some cryptic examples of beasts with different numbers of eyes - see if you can guess what they are before opening the bigger pics.
Two Eyes:
Could be an alien but no, it's a male Calypte anna
Four Eyes:
Hmmm, this looks mighty suspicious, or is it?
Six Eyes:
Now this guy is very dangerous. He is also rather reclusive. Also carries a fiddle on his back....Loxsoceles reclusa - the brown recluse or fiddle-back spider...
Eight Eyes:
What the heck are these? Maybe this will help? Or how about this to aid identification. Aphonopelma chalcodes!!
More Eight Eyes;
Now don't jump when you see these ones. Two huge, two medium and four small eyes on a lovely face. He is Phiddipus audax and a very handsome fellow indeed - if very small!
Hope you enjoy!

What are you lookin' at?
Tiny body. Huge ego. Enormous courage. Unafraid of monsters with big flashy things shining in your face !! I can escape quicker than you can blink, if necessary!
Thanks to all of you!
Hi,
Been lurking for a few months - impressed by all.
I normally shoot insects and birds using high speed flash, but have never really tried anything 'arty'. I am an engineer, after all.
Thanks for the great images and tips - I can now do high contrast B&W images like Charley who is a black Standard Poodle (full of mischief) and other more arty shots like this. Will post more of my mainstream images over the next several weeks. THANKS AGAIN!!!
