Meeting on the Other Side

There are eight trees on the top of the bald knob. You can see it a long ways away from all directions. The story goes from the old timers around here that a man who used to own this place was buried on top the hill under these trees. Every day his dog would go and sit on his grave and grieve for his master. When the dog finally died, they buried him next to the man. Reunited at last on the other side. I give you..... Sunrise on the Salt Bald Knob at Pocket Hollow
Comments always appreciated... Thanks for lookin!
Still Waters... For the Challenge

For those of you who know I live on a big lake, water is a part of my daily life, looking out my back door over "my" piece of water. The sky and the wind make my water ever changing. And pretty much each day..... The sun shines on the water ....... then The sun sinks over the water and if we are lucky The moon shines on the water .....so even though it is the same water, it always looks different!
So thanks for dropping by and taking a look at my not so still waters...Leave your comments, it is always appreciated!

My Summer Has Been for the Birds

Hope everybody is having a good summer! I have been stalking some new friends. My first set of friends are a pair of Green Herons who live down on the creek. By the third day of shooting them, they aren't paying any attention to me whatsoever other than posing for me!
My next new buddy is a Roadrunner who frequents the same area of road every day. He too is not paying much attention to me now, especially when he is busy with "dinner" in his mouth! (A very large praying mantis who should have prayed harder!)
My last new best friend is a Great Egret, so regal, that nothing else can be said about him!
Hope you are having a great summer with your friends! All comments and suggestions greatly appreciated....Thanks for lookin!
This and That....

Haven't had time to be around much for a while.... My 2 1/2 year old Grandson was here for a month, so we were busy busy busy. Also had lots and lots of rain which makes it hard to get out to shoot.
Just wanted to share a few misc. shots....
Lap Dog I got a kick out of a recent article in Dog Fancy magazine which featured the Australian Cattle Dog. To paraphrase.... it said "If you are looking for a dog to curl up in your lap at night in front of the TV... the cattle dog is NOT for you...." I guess they haven't been looking in my window, because this is where Jack lays on his back in Chuck's lap every night, with his big ole feet up in the air!
The Donald I see this one Charlois steer in a field full of black angus every day. He was by the fence the other day and I stopped to take this shot. I love his "combover" on his head! Wonder if he aspires to being "The Donald" of the herd?
Baby Snapper We found this baby snapping turtle two days in a row out by the driveway. The second day, we carried him down to the water and released him. Hope he has a long happy life!
Look Up Mozzie! Z spends all his time looking up in the sky for rainbows, airplanes, and the moon.... he calls me "Mozzie" and it is the best sound ever!
A Very Good Stick When you go to the lake, the first thing you have to do is find a very good stick to explore with.... think this one is a very good stick!
Thanks for lookin! Have a great summer everybody!
Best Shot of 2008 for SG

Here is one I shared with you all back in the fall of this past year.
It was also my most "famous" shot on my flickr account (CKEphotos) this past year....
654 Views..... 110 Favorites.....253 Comments.
I guess people liked it, and actually so do I.
I have another version where I removed the dust spot from my sensor after you all pointed that out to me, but just went ahead and posted this same one spot and all. Just sayin' so you don't have to work yourselves all up in a frenzy over that stupid spot again.
So thanks for looking. The one I used for the thumb is the runner up to my eye.
The Ice Storm

We have just been through a major ice storm. We were without power 5 1/2 days and many thousands still don't have power. But every Ice Storm has a silver lining and here are some of mine....
Thanks for lookin! Comments always appreciated. Sure is nice to have power and water again!
Goodbye Old Year

Saying goodbye to 2008 with a shot of my last sunset of the year....
Happy New Year to all the good folks at Photographica, and may 2009 be a wonderful year for you!
Thanks for lookin!
For The Challenge..... Highlights and Shadows!

This is one of the many abandoned post offices in rural Ozark County Missouri. This structure has no roof.... so the late afternoon sunlight was shining right through the green plastic that someone had put up to cover the door opening. My guess is on the other side was a stack of three tires topped with a galvanized washtub.... what do you think?
Thanks for lookin!
What Christmas Means to Me.....

The best Christmas's are seen through the wonder of the eyes of a child....
We are blessed this year to be able to share our Christmas with our two year old Grandson who made this ornament himself and brought it to hang on our tree...
And our boy Bubba wishes you a Feliz Navidad too!
Merry Christmas Photographicans! May yours be warm and wonderful!
