Joshua Tree Shadow on Rock
We had been hiking at the Joshua Tree Forest in the Mojave National Preserve for about an hour, when I saw this scene several yards off the path. This was a shot that I could not resist capturing -- the positions of the Joshua Tree and the rock were just perfect, almost as if someone had set the rock in that position so that the shadow from the Joshua tree would be cast near sunset. The date was 17 September 2009 at 6:10pm Pacific Time.

More Panos

Letchworth State Park Panoramic came out a little dark.
Letchworth State Park, Lower Falls Pano: I did this one with a point-and-shoot, and had to manually adjust the brightness. Still has artifacts.
Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School: camera tilted at a slight angle (school is up on a hill).

My first ever pano...

I decided to try a panoramic shot, using the instructions in Scott Kelby's "The Digital Photography Book". I had never tried this before, and was pleased with the outcome. However a few days later I tried the same technique in another setting and was somewhat less pleased.
In any case here is the view from Dave's Front Porch. This is my first panoramic shot.
