Surreality....

By djdkdigital written 1/29/08 3:13 AM, published 1/29/08 3:13 AM

Apparently my photo did not upload in my last post.. (sorry for double posting). I guess it really HAS been a long time since Iv'e been here, hehe, otherwise I'd remember how to properly upload a pic to a post!

How time flies.. apparently it has been a long time since I have visited and uploaded to Photographica. I can't believe it! Regardless, I am glad to be back again and I look forward to continuing to post on a regular basis.

This image is the first in a Black and White photo series I am currently working on. I took this image a while back, and felt OK about the colors, and decided it needed something more. Recently, as I was going through my photo collection, I decided to update it recently and see how it would look in B & W.  Surreality  is the result I got!

Again, my apologies for the double post. =)

Colored Clouds

This is just a photo I took a while back and then cropped into a panorama size. The Popup LinkColored Clouds remind me of a breeze, for I am very pleased by the natural effects of the wind. It truly does make this photo probably the most, if not the #1 most peaceful to my eye. Today, I am grateful that I can relate my work to my peace and serenity.

2nd Proxy Falls Trip

By djdkdigital written 9/3/06 8:11 PM, published 9/3/06 8:11 PM

This was our second visit to Proxy Falls, and it was probably our last before the snow starts coming down for the year. (Crisp Clarity) Popup LinkDESCRIPTION_HERE shows the beauty of Upper Proxy Falls, with a plant that I found to be quite interesting in the foreground. The Upper Falls drain into a pool at their base, but the pool appears to give no escape for the water. I have heard that it supposedly flows underground.
As we walked back down the trail from the Upper Falls, we decided to walk down to Lower Proxy Falls, where I saw the image that would become (Creek Crossing) Popup LinkDESCRIPTION_HERE. I found that it truly is a cool area and is much easier to navigate when it has been visited at least once before.
After that shot, I kept hiking toward the falls, and I was rewarded with (Misty Pool) Popup LinkDESCRIPTION_HERE upon my arrival. I have learned that the area is much more enjoyable when the mist level is not as high as it was during my last visit (I think it was in late June), but I suppose some people like lots of mist. It's pretty dry until you cross the huge tree (Pictured in the 2nd Photo I posted) that has fallen over, which is basically right next to the falls.
Overall, it is a great place to visit; I honestly didn't want to leave! I look forward to coming back next year; when I can appreciate the peace and tranquility of the falls, once again.

Smoky Sunset

By djdkdigital written 8/27/06 9:34 PM, published 8/27/06 9:34 PM

As the many colors of a smoky sunset resided in the sky, I thought about the causes of this sight, and what gave me this wonderful photo opportunity.
This photo was taken during some recent forest fires in Oregon. When I saw this sight that would soon become my image, it was immediately apparent that this tree and and the color of the sun made for a great picture, and was definetely something that I don't see very often!
Although forest fires are very dangerous and hazardous, they do provide us with with many wonderful photo opportunities.

Proxy Falls Trip

By djdkdigital written 8/27/06 5:20 PM, published 8/27/06 5:20 PM

I took this shot at Proxy Falls, in Oregon. You may notice a little of the mist that was there when I took the shot, it was quite wet that day!
The trail to get to the falls was probably at least a mile, but it was well worth it in the end. I ended up hiking through a few feet of water to get where I took this, but it was very refreshing. Unfortunately, the light was just horrid during the time of day I went (I think it was around 11 AM or 12PM).
If you go, I'd advise going in the fall before the snow comes down and 242 is closed for winter; go in the spring and you'll probably get lots of mist like I did, getting a bad picture.Popup LinkDESCRIPTION_HERE
