Long time no see guys! This is from a recent shoot I did which will published in Harper's Bazaar. I've definitely come a long way since I've first found this site and posted images over seven years ago! Looking forward to catching up! Color or B&W, what do you think?  MI6   MI6 C

I actually stopped my car on the way up to the Griffith Observatory to save this moment.

Some people are crazy about their pets but here's a "blue collared" guy who looks like the last person I would ever expect to roll like this...

What do you think?

Outtakes

I love coming here and posting images. I think it's been about 6 years since I posted here the first time and in that time I've really fallen in love with photography. Now I have a question...

I noticed that some of you thought that this picture posted yesterday was created in Photoshop.

I like the photo because of its colors and the composition. I felt like it had some impact and to me, it's a great moment that was captured... not created in a computer.

The problem is that if people see it and think it was put together in photoshop then it loses that impact. It's no longer a real moment but just a computer graphic.

Here are some outtakes from the shoot.

The blur or outline around parts of the dress and her arms is a result of the shutter lag and her movement. The flash freezes the movement but I left the shutter open a little longer to better expose the sky resulting in some blur.

As for the position of her feet... I can't help that. That's where she was really standing.

My question is, should I crop her out in photoshop and move her lower so that she appears to be more realistically on the ground? And, should I remove the blur around parts of her silhouette so that it doesn't look like a bad cutout?

I think it's funny to have to go in and make so many changed to an actual picture so that it appears real but at the same time, it's not really a good picture if it looks fake.

What would you do?

I just got back to LA from Moscow and this was one of the first images off my drive.

Well three images to be exact. -1 stop 0 and +1 stop.

Hope everyone is well. Soon I'll be back in the studio shooting headshots.

Some people look at shooting headshots as a bad thing like they do with wedding photographers but I think that as long as you love what you do that passion shows through your work. I've seen some amazing wedding photographers who make art out of almost nothing.

While headshots are straight-forward I love working with all the different actors and hearing their stories.

As for this shot, I like it because that's how I remember the scene. It's a rare viewpoint that is definitely not publicly accessible.

This is about as wide as I can go at 18mm x1.6. I had the Tokina 12-24mm until it was stolen a while back. If you're looking for a great wide angle lens I recommend that one.
If you're interested in taking some pictures like this you can read up on HDR imaging http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging.

5 Years And Counting

My first post here was just over 5 years ago. If you had told me then, that five years later I would be engaged, living in LA and the owner of two small pomeranians I would have thought you were on something.

Yet here I am :-)

I just celebrated my 26th birthday a few days ago and this week I'm opening my brand new photo studio!

"Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life."

I'm not sure who said that but if there's one thing I love it's photography and people.

Living in LA showed me the high demand for actors in need of headshots so Headshot Studio was born.

It's been months in the making... from finding the perfect studio to all the paperwork but it's finally ready to take off and nothing makes me happier than to share that with you.

Have a look at the website and check out the new studio.

This is one of the first pictures I took. We got this on the 4th jump and we stopped shooting this look because we knew this shot wasn't going to be outdone.

I hope you like it!
