Biography
I started taking photos with a 620 format Mark XII. It was a plastic camera and it used large flashbulbs. Yes this was a few years ago when if you had a TV it was Black and White. I really got started as a Junior in High School when I got to tinkering in the unused school darkroom. Playing with the bw film convince me that this was my future. After High Scool I purchased my first slr, a Mamiya Secor 100DTL. My major in college was Zoology (animal bilogy) and that was what my degree was in. I enjoyed it very much but photography was my avocation. Did my 1st photo-essay for my Folklore class which was covering the lives of those living in a commune called "Padanaram". This was shot on Tri-x and Ektachrome. This was my real start and it has been ever since. I have been employed doing several different things as well as a CSI technician with the Tucson Police Department serving as a fingerprint specialist and a crime scene photographer. Yes there was plenty of blood and gore. I free-lanced as a photographer since HS but finding a job as a photographer only panned out for a short stint in a professional photo studio. That was for the birds. I served many years as a salesman for a variety of products and remained true to my love of photography and continued to freelance.
Finally I decided to take the plunge and open a studio for photography and graphic design and to sell myself. I have never looked back on that decision with dismay. I am where I want to be only wish that I was a bit richer.
Computers and the Digital Photographic Age is one heck of a Combination that I never foresaw back in those early days. It is sure much improved over the Slide Rule and the plastic camera that I used oh so not very long ago.
