Remains of the Day

This is going to be just a quick post today...

Just wanted to give everyone a perspective of what Mt Rainier is to Seattle.  I was coming home on the Kingston ferry today and noticed that Rainier was "out" (usually hidden by clouds).  I believe Mt Rainier is 100+ miles south of Seattle, so as you look at the skyline of the city (just to the right you can barely make out the Space Needle) and see Rainier behind it....well you get the idea...when it blows it's going to make St Helens look like a firecracker.  I'm sorry that the picture isn't the best quality, but I snapped it very quickly.

I started out by the Popup LinkBlackberry bush next to my driveway and went down by the water and saw the Popup LinkBoats that were there.  From there I headed inland and passed by Popup LinkWhitehorse Mountain ... passed by Popup LinkMt Pilchuck ... stopped and took a picture of this Popup LinkMountain Stream ...which is near the base of Popup LinkForgotten Mountain ... I ultimately wound up here on the trail to Popup LinkSauk Falls...  What a great day!!!

I don't care what that MGB guy said the other day.......it rained all day long today!!!!   It always does today is the 346th straight day of rain.

As the saying goes, "We don't tan in Seattle...we rust!"

No matter how far one goes, the distant pavilions paced, the memories of ancient days of glory, the singing of friends and comrades, the dances danced, baseless fears and tears overcome, and laughter and joy and peace spill together into this puddle of life.......no matter how far one goes...there's a sunset at Popup Linkend of the road.

Whoa....sorry about that I was gone for a minute....but I'm back now...

I haven't been able to post anything for awhile because my internet has been down...in the last 5 weeks I've been down for 24 days.  Anyway, the guy just came out an hour ago and fixed it....so I thought I would show you one of the places I visited during my downtime.  I decided to go to the Popup LinkPublic Market in the city.  So I got there Popup LinkEarly...got the required morning Popup Linkcup o joe.  The market's kind of cool...they give you the Popup Linkfinger and tell you where to go.  Well speaking of going...by the the time I got there the coffee kicked in and I really had to go so I followed the clearly marked signs to the Popup Linkrestroom...they really make you feel welcome.  I overheard someone talking about some guy in the market having a really bad case of  Popup Linkcrabs...sure enough they were big fat crabs.  I spent the rest of the day walking around gawking at things like some hayseed in the city and finally got tired and took the Popup Linkferry home....sure didn't want to be in the city after dark...it's strange enough during the daylight.

I came across an old tractor burial ground and took some of these pictures.  Just old junk now but once one of the mainstays of the farm all held together by baling wire and string...(they didn't have duct tape then).

I'm sorry to have to do this to you again, but I'm finding things that I've never even looked for before I got my camera.  Now I see "dead cars".  I know that you're probably groaning and saying, "not again"....but here goes...

As you can see this place has not been kept up in a while...the Popup Linkbarn door is falling off of it's Popup Linkhinges...but at least you can always tell how warm it is with the  Popup Linkfrogometer.  So who lives here anyway?  Well this classy Popup Linklady for one...and this old Popup Linkbiddy.  This Popup Linkclucker stands out in the crowd.  And finally, the Popup Linkbarn yard gossip has it that these two are an item.

Tastes just like chicken...oh they are chickens!

I decided to get out and about today and thought that I would make a big loop around the area right here in my "back yard".  I started here at this Popup LinkBig Valley...I think something might have happened here at the Popup Linkcross.  From there I by one of my favorite places (but I have so many here)Popup LinkLake McMurry...I went further still and the sights changed (along with the weather) and I started seeing things like this Popup LinkTug boat.  Almost back home now...but I had to stop to take some pictures of another one of my favorite places...Popup LinkDeception Pass 1

I wish I had the skill to capture the pictures that would do justice to the beauty here.  Anyway, this is my neighborhood.

I got up with the birds this morning and thought about Popup Linkgoin south, but I thought I would save that for another day.  I went northwest instead and came across this Popup Linkdriveway....I knew it was a driveway because of the Popup Linkhouse at the other end of it.  Almost directly across the road from it was this old Popup LinkBarn.  A mile or so down the same road was this other old barn with this rusty trailer sitting under one of the  Popup Linkback windows.  On the way home I crossed this old bridge (more pictures to come) and I took a picture of the guard posts that were lined up Popup Linkall in a row....finally later that evening on my way home I saw this old deserted shed with the sun hitting the Popup Linkdoor.  All in all a pretty fun day....just wanted to share it.

Since I've started posting here I've begun to notice things that I used to take for granted before.  For instance I was walking up the driveway to get the mail and I noticed that the first Popup Linkblackberry was just beginning to show itself and right beside it was the first  Popup LinkSalmon Berry.  Later in the day as I was driving down the road I spied this with it's nose sticking out of an old shed....Popup Linkthis is the original picture....and the follow two were the same picture after I messed with it in Photo Paint....Popup LinkPP1    Popup LinkPP2

I'm partial to the original...
