Went to the old farm store in town today to look around and pick up a few things.  I wanted to get some homemade preserves but just couldn't make up my mind.  So I thought that I would get some lemons for some lemonade...and decided that while I was at it I would get some  peaches to...but then I saw that they "weren't from around here" so I let them be.  So while they were putting my order together I thought that I would wander out back and see what was going on out there.  I remembered that the new theme was "action" and I knew that around these parts if there was any action going on then Old Tom would be right in the middle of it...and if for some reason (i.e. Thanksgiving) he wasn't around then Jumpy is sure to provide plenty of entertainment.

Eat your heart out Surfer Guy...this is where the action is.

Well my road trip was actually a short drive to my favorite junk store about ten miles from my house...but to get there I have to go down this hill...go by this barn...which is at the end of this field. Once I got to the store I did what I always do....look at junk.  Here's some old lanterns...some old suitcases (wonder where they've been)...and an old spinning wheel that has seen better days.  To those of you that are sick of looking at flowers...turn away now...but his was there too box o flowers.  Also, I told you I was going to do it...but here is a picture that I know is wrong...but I would like some suggestions as to what I could or should do the next time...should I use a filter? adjust the shutter speed? let someone else take the shot?  I'm very new at this so I really don't have a clue... valley

For all you Lutherans out there I was out driving in the country yesterday and I came across this old driveway that cut into the side of this hill.  Thinking that there might be a great shot of the valley below especially at dusk I followed the driveway to the top.  I found this cool old Lutheran church at the top.  It was built in 1902 and they still hold meetings in it.  I was there about an hour and had the whole place to myself...it was kind of cool.  Here are some of the shots that I took.

Well not really...it's just down the road.  I pass it every day almost but I've never been to it so I thought that today would be the day.  Here's what I saw.

No real theme here...a picture of some leaves ...a picture of an old twisted Japanese maple tree...a  gargoyle guarding his domain and this one that reminds me of some kind of a wailing wall that has a tortured permanence about it.

I went back to where I saw the bus yesterday and also came across this old tow truck.  It also has seen better days...probably the truck that towed the bus that hauled the kids that carried their lunch to school...

I went into town today and decided to take a road less travelled and came across this old bus that had seen better days....it might have been my old grade school bus...maybe.  Anyway, I welcome all suggestions. Ok, I want to get serious about getting the kinds of shots that I see you all posting here.....so if you have any suggestions...aside from quitting or playing the piano...I'm willing to listen.

I know that I'm probably not supposed to do this but I just wanted to let everyone know about these guys Office.  They sell used cars also.  I can vouch for them because I bought the Brooklyn Bridge from them not too long ago...a real steal.  All you have to do is grab a pencil and sign on the dotted line.

I was reading a book today about a man who seemed to have it all, but somewhere along the line he lost his marbles and went stark raving mad.  Later in the day I went out for a walk and I was thinking about people in general, and I thought about how some people seem to have their lives all in order...so neat and tidy while others have had a rougher time of it...and others just have no clue.  Later as I walked back into the house I was thinking how wrapped up we get in our own lives and how cool it would be to just take some time out to watch a  sunset  with someone.

Though the trees are rooted in place...it's Time that brings the greatest change and weaves itself, tapestry-like, into the limbs.

The next morning

I was out in my backyard by the river enjoying one of those spectacular spring days that always seem to be added to locked away memories when I noticed that this had bloomed sometime during the past week.  I thought to myself that it was time for a Rhoady trip.  So I jumped into the truck and went to the mountains.  I came around a bend in the road and saw this peaking up from behind one of the foothills.  I finally decided to explore on foot for awhile and saw something sparkling through the  leaves.  I explored a little more and finally decided it was time to come home.  It was an awesome day!

I am brand new to this forum and really don't know what I'm doing...but I am open to suggestions.  I was messing around with my camera the other day...just shooting things...anything, and this face caught my eye.
