Well, I have not been able to find anything to post for the pain and suffering, so I bring to you a what if scenario!What if this guy had flown out and stung me as I was taking this picture? Went hiking yesterday at pilot knob state park and a good time was had by all... A beautiful  forest path winds up to a  observation tower which was constructed in the 1930's by the "CCC".. Up on the tower I was greeted by a pretty nice  view and on the way back I incounterd this  leopard frog... Hope you enjoy!

Its hard to imagine that two hundred years ago Iowa was tallgrass prairie that stretched unbroken for hundreds of miles.This tallgrass formed what is today some of the richest topsoil in the world.This past weekend we went walking in nearby union slough national wildlife refuge where they are recreating a small piece of this ecosystem, here are a few pictures I took while there.. Im going to try to go back this weekend and get some pics of the various kinds of waterbirds they have there. Well here I am have not posted in a while have my brother and his three children staying with us while there house is remodled and they are a handful little sweeties though they be!!I do not have much as have just been to busy but this is a pocture of somemilk thistle that was seeding out... Well, here I sit at 95F, it has been quite a heat wave here wich hopefully will be breaking they are predicting 59F for a low tonight Haha!!Well anyway we have not had a good rain in many weeks here and this drought has made us do quite a bit of wateringAlso paulamouse inspired me to go back and look at some pics from this past winter,I had just got my camera and found Ice and snow a willing subjectFreed at last freezing fog freezing fog2

Have not been taking too many pictures past couple of days as Iowa finds itself in the grip of a major heat wave but I could not resist theseBaby swollows They where just too cute so I got my lazy behind off my couch and ventured out into the blazing sun.. Had a wonderful time with family in wisconsin also got a few pictures on the trip, here is my beautiful niece jenna she is actully the one who introduced me to photographica.Went to the city zoo where we saw peacocks prairie dogs monkies monky2 andducks 2 3 On the way home we stopped at the seed savers exchange heritage gardens near burr oak Iowa wich is a very large farm that raises heirloom seeds, it is a very beautiful place where you can hike and enjoy there numerous gardenspond B&WBlue flowers Blue flower2While there we had a wonderful suprisewhen this littleFawnjumped out of the tall grass and thendartedoff into the woods.We also went walking in a marsh in wisconsin where I got this shot of a monarch butterfly I was a very good trip indeed..
