More shots of the Fremont Bridge

By jarrowwx written 11/10/05 2:20 PM, published 11/10/05 2:20 PM
Yesterday morning, on the way to work, the sky was fantastic, and I got the silly idea of taking a few pictures on the way to work.  Probably has to do with the fact that rain was in the forecast for today.

My fiance works in northwest Portland, so I was already in the vicinity, so I decided to take some shots of the Fremont from an angle that we don't see every day.

Almost directly under the bridge, or one of the feeder onramps, there is a Popup Linkschool.  Don't ask me which one, I didn't even realize it was a school when I took it...

Over where Naito Parkway goes under the bridge, I took Popup Linkthis shot.  Here it is again in Popup Linkb&w.  I really like the b&w version.  I thought about editing out the power lines.  But doing it right would take some time.  If I were going to sell the photo, I would definitely take the time...

A few feet to the right, I was directly under the bridge.   Popup LinkColor, Popup Linkb&w.

Enjoy.

Oh, yes, your feedback would be appreciated.  What do you guys think, are any of these sellable?

Fremont Bridge in the light of the sunrise

By jarrowwx written 11/8/05 2:25 PM, published 11/8/05 2:25 PM
What a beautiful morning!  This morning, when I got to work, I got to the top of the parking structure and looked out over the edge and saw the Popup LinkFremont Bridge over in North Portland.

I also saw some the buildings sticking out of the fog.  But all of the other panaramas I took this morning didn't turn out good enough to post.  Sorry.

I did, however, take a time-lapse of the fog dissipating.  I can't wait to put it together into a movie...

Beautiful Sunrise in Portland

By jarrowwx written 10/27/05 6:01 PM, published 10/27/05 6:01 PM
This morning, I made it downtown before the sun came up.  So I went across the bridge and got set up and took some pictures of downtown Portland as the sun was coming up.

This first pan was taken at Popup Link7:20am.  You can still see the lights on the Hawthorne bridge.  And the focus was fantastic.  13 shots at ISO100, f/10, 5 second exposures

This second pan was after the sun was more firmly in the sky.  See how the sky has turned?  Popup Link7:42am.   12 shots at ISO100, f/5, 1/15 second exposures.

After I left there, I went to work.  Looking out the window towards the sunrise, I could see fog nestled in among the trees and hills in the east.  It was stunning.  Popup Link8:19am.  18 shots at ISO 100, f/22, 1/15 second exposures.

All of the images were stitched together using Autostitch (http://www.autostitch.net/).  After stitching at 100% using linear blending, I loaded them into Photoshop, cropped them to where I wanted them, then applied an Auto Contrast.  Finally, a pass with CSpro (http://www.fredmiranda.com/).

Enjoy.  Or heck, maybe purchase?  :)

Portland from the 32nd floor

This morning, the sun comes and goes, there is fog on the hills, and the view is pretty nice to look at...

Popup LinkDowntown Portland

The series was shot using a Canon 20D with a 35-105 canon lens at maximum zoom, f5.6, 1/15th, no filters.  It was done with 36 shots, each shot approximately has 1/2 overlap with the previous shot.  The stitching was done with Autostitch, using linear blending.

It could probably stand to be cropped a bit.  But this shot is all about seeing EVERYTHING...

Enjoy.

Downtown Portland Panorama

Today, for lunch, I drove over to Pro Photo Supply and bought myself a level to attach to the hotshoe of my Canon 20D.  That way, I could take panoramas and have them turn out pretty level and good.

Afterwards, I went across the river and set up my camera and took some shots to take back and stitch together.

Here's the Popup Linkend result.  I think I need to use Manual exposure next time... :P

By the way, see that tall building on the right?  I work there!

Enjoy!
