I've had an idea for a still life running around in my brain for a little while now. A few nights ago I got around to setting it up. This is the result. Histories Residue

This past Sunday I worked on my event/action photography skills. I attended the 11th annual Civil War on the Border at Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm Historic Site in Olathe, Kansas. I took several Photographs of The United States Army’s Fort Riley Commanding General’s Mounted Color Guard. It was a spectacular demonstration of cavalry tactics from the Civil War period.

I had a mild brainstorm this morning while listening to Tom Petty. It's Good to be King

The Kansas City St. Andrew Society celebrated Tartan Day at Starwood Park today. I was continually plagued by battery troubles, so I didn’t get as many shots as I would have liked. Still I had a great time and, I got a few photos worth sharing.

I headed out to Cedar_Lake  today and hung out at the spillway dam where I met this boy looking for creepy_crawlies . After awhile I moved up the spillway, and nearly step on a snake  !!! On my way back the way I came I found a brilliant frog relaxing in a puddle. I liked how the sun shown on it’s back. I was able to get lots of photos of it before it hopped off.

I got bored a few evenings ago and started a game from my dice collection. After a few tosses I got a straight . I decided to document my good luck. The picture turned out well enough that I thought I would try photographing some of my other dice.

These are a pair of craps_dice  I got at one of the first casino’s I ever visited

There’s something wrong  with these dice.

By the time I got to my smoke_30  die I had started playing with the macro  setting on my camera.

This produced a good picture of my black_and_red  wooden dice.

All in all a good evenings work.

For the past month I have been experimenting with different portrait styles. Mainly using myself as the subject I came up with a photo I really liked.

I took a photo of this old school house . As you can see its cloudy and the over all photo is kind of dull. So I used the Picasa photo editing software from Google and tried to make it a little more vivid . I would like to hear a real opinion and not just if you like it or not. Please.

I don’t hate winter, but I don’t like it either. This below freezing temperatures were having here in the KC metro has made staying outside for any length of time difficult. So I’m stuck indoors trying to find something interesting to photograph. This usually means I wind up harassing the cat

I finally was able to get a new digital camera. I didn't get to get out and test it the way would have liked ,but I still was able to get one good shot of a park near Winter in Arapaho Park my home.
