After bracing for some snow and freezing rain in OKC, OK the schools closed, my daughter stayed with some friends and I had to pick her up after work. As soon as I drove up I found them sledding from the neighbors driveway down into the street. I always have my camera and instantly pulled it out to take some shots. As soon as I park, my daughter is staring at me and has a huge smile from ear to ear. I knew she'd been having the best time out in the snow. I roll down my window as soon as I seen her smile and grabbed this shot. I instantly knew this was my favorite picture of her.

Skirvin in the blue hour

We recently held our company Christmas party at the Skirvin Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City and I had to shoot a photo for the invitation. The following pic is what I came back with. Everyone loved it and the party was on. The Skirvin Hotel first open in 1911 then closed in the 80's. After an extensive renovation project restoring the original exterior finish, installing historically accurate windows, reconfiguring guest rooms and adding new guest elevators, the hotel reopened on Feb 26, 2007. We had a great time and the history of the Skirvin is fascinating.

A flatiron building in between 5th st and Harrison just east of downtown OKC. It was taken early in the morning as you can see the sun just hitting the tops of the buildings everywhere.  122408dsc9017rhbrdr . This is a shot of the OKC skyline as seen from 4th street looking WSW.  HDR Downtown OKC This view is from the top of the Plaza Court building at 1100 Classen Dr, built in the 1920's.  HDR Downtown OKC (sorry, I gave the last 2 pics the same name) It provided another perfect vantage point for downtown OKC. All of the shots were done with HDR (high dynamic range) then tonemapped. I know it sounds really difficult but it's pretty easy.

This little tree looked like it was gone just a couple of weeks ago. Then the next time we were at the park I noticed it still had some fight left in it as it sprouted a small bunch of leaves. It's great that it's  Not giving up

Just thought a few more ice pics were in order. These however are a little less dramatic and one per request. This one is for The Old Guy. The focus was supposed to be on the arm and this one is also, however as you will see, I did include more icicles on this one. I hope you like it. benched with icicle view This little Steeler looked like he had a heavy head after last weeks loss to the Pats. heavy headed I thought this just looked humerous. slushed puppy Ice covered streets and low hanging clouds impressed me on this one. looking downtown

The ice storms here in Oklahoma City  have been both horrendous and beautiful. The reatity of this this major ice storm is going to be very costly but for a photographer it's a visual paradise. Walking around the car dealership where I work I could not pass up this leaper. This challenges was great. I learned that everything has photograghic potential. I leaned towards a lot of macro shots though. The toughest time was choosing the three because I really liked five of the shots. I'll put those into another post. Anyway, here it goes....scary

While setting out on my grand adventure to find some abstract shots. I grab my keys and my camera and head out. The garage door opens and with my mind already wondering where this journey will take me I drop my keys. That's when I see it.Follow Me it seemed to say. The light and lines captivated me. Not So Close it warned me. So, taking heed, I stepped back and saw a View To A View. I just couldn't get past all of theReflective Shadows. Finally, getting around this idea I Saw The Light. And just like that I realized my journey was over. While I didn't get very far, this idea sure took me to places I had never seen.

Yesterday was the planned annual family garage sale. However, the rain and heavy thunderstorms forced us to abandon our plans. So after the rain stopped and everyone was sleeping in, I got bored and went for a walk. I spotted a grainElevator In The DistanceFrom there I found a good opportunity for some abandoned and not so abandoned subjects. Here are a few to look at.
