So here are some images to explain why we had dinner in the casino this night instead of having fresh crabs from my mothers crab garden.
This was a mixed feeling event, part joyous as the canal was finally being cleansed! part sad as we witnessed a neighbor and friend's LIFE exposed. She was fine, had evacuated and moved near her family up north.
This is reality and raw... I have intentionally left out the images of bottles of perfume and body powder that floated by me as I sat in morning on the dock of my Fathers pier.Shoes and household items The rubber glove was the end for me! wierd.
The neighborhood rejoyced in the idea that this  'small' part of a ravaged area was finally being cleansed!
All where  saddened that the owner of this property had moved on.
She  approved of this day.And so did we. We called her and told her of the day!
A good day on the canal.

How to spend the day on the bayou...part 2 What happened next

so the motor had stirred the water so much that the crabs were Spooked. ahh well.

next time happy images of My New Orleans...so beautiful!

I think I finally found calm.
Just getting back from a vacation on Mississippi Gulf Coast!
It's coming back! Go! Visit!
A lot is left to be accomplished there and all along the coast but....
when you find a great spot visit! So I went home, it was  ....normal and not at the same time.
Reconstruction takes time.

Fortunately,I spent 2 wonderful weeks of R&R with my family and took a few pictures.
Here is some of what I will share on this post, and perhaps a few more to come.
I just really wanted you all to see some of a beautiful place that I call home and always will... the Gulf of Mexico on the U. S. side!

So today it's Bay St. Louis, Mississippi,at my parents home. They moved here permanently almost 3 years ago. This was their weekend home. Now it is fully re-done! Fully operational, fully ready to make me feel at home.
Please enjoy!
How to spend the day on the bayou...part 1

Oh by the way... we only caught one crab so we threw him back and went to the casino for dinner! you'll see why later.......

note: Hurricane Katrina ravaged this town and region 2 years ago. This town has done an amazing job of clean up with the help and enormous generosity of volunteers from all over the US and other countries. I am thankful to all of them.So is my family. My parents; like their neighbors love this place and have worked hard to get home and many are. We pray that many more will be as fortunate and
find their way home!

Signs of Spring have come to my yard. I could not stop looking at the blossoms;

Spring from my backyard the branches are so full and heavy. I do not know what this fruit tree is, it only blooms every 3years? strange. The first year we occupied this house the  fruit was so heavy we needed to prop up the branches with boards!I wonder if it will produce this year?

Mr. Tibbs took advantage of me not paying attention and wondered next door; where i found these; a saucer magnolia Pink! He came back to get me!I could not stop looking at this tree! So beautiful.
I hope you enjoy spring from my yard! Oh wonderful spring!

Down on my Main Street

My Main Street is probably very simialar to many Main Streets across the U.S. A place hopefully for people to congrigate and meet.
Holly Springs is one of the old southern towns that didn't change from the 1800's, (actually around 1830)until recently. By recently I mean in the last Oh 15 years!
Our main street is lucky in that we have new shinny buildings mixed in with some grand old buildings!
This challenge has been difficult. SO many photos I could take. But are they really Main Street?
Here is my Main Street. Our new Town Hall in Holly springs North Carolina!
DSC05283 DSC05287 Around the corner is the Police stationDSC05289 One of our older buildings that has been renovated and reused. At one time it was the Train Depot/U.S. Post Office and General store in Holly Springs.
Let's continue to the back of Town Hall
DSC05296  as you can see we really like our Town Hall building. It was designed to be impressive even from the back street, I think it is.
Across the parking lot the new shopps are waiting to service the town with a bank, ice creamery, pizza palor and other services to comeDSC05292

My favorite building in Holly Springs is  "The Mims House" circa 1840's DSC05294 DSC05302 This grand old home is on the National Registry of Antebellum Homes. It has
recently been purchased by an indivdual Who will be renovating it completely and offering it as banquet and reception venues for the public. We the resendents cannot wait. DSC05305 DSC05306 DSC05307 I can't help but imagine how many couples have snuck-out of one of the many Balls held here for a moon-light kiss!
The third floor has an original ball room that is to be a major part of the renovation. If these walls could talk what would they say!"please put me back the way I was; I miss the lovers"

DSC05313
This beauty is the home of Dewer's Antiques and Florist. The owner, Larry, is one of our towns great personalities and only the 2nd owner of the building!  the shop is an archive of wonderful objects! This is a story for another day!
In finishing our tour of Holly Springs let's not forget our newest addition and a first in the county of Wake
DSC05273
Our Library and Cultural Center.
for a town that only about 15 years ago has a population of around 6000 residents, it has grown to almost 16000!this is the fastest growing town in North Carolina.I know the residents will keep the charm of this fabulous tiny spec on the map. We love our town! Look for more stories about her!

This place is  but one of our LOVES!
Different interpetations of the same media, the same passion.... different views of the world and it's many incredible moments.....of LIFE!

...." a kick in the head" to be associated with you!

Same settings , but different!

How odd?
The settings are the same. camera & room,( no flash one lamp) the views or subjects; if you will; are different.
On one of those odd evenigs when my son Blake was home for dinner with Katie his wonderful girlfriend
I pulled out the camera (it's been hiding from me) and this is what WE captured.
Then the oddest of things happened... Mr Tibbs
actually agreed to have his portrait taken!
The ever camera elusive canine we all love (and wonder why,) WANTED his photo taken!
I can't help be a bit miffed. Naturally when he agrees to this happening when I have the flash off!   All I know is they are all wonderful, the subjects I hope you enjoy them too.
I love my dark places!

Thanks Ya'll!

Thanks Ya'll! My first week with you has been wonderful. you are a very creative bunch and have helped me get through a hard week.
You have assisted in distracting me, hence I have gone through this first week smoke free!
YOUR talent has astounded me, your honesty encouraged me. and your encouragement made me more likely to give of myself through this medium. you all know how hard it is to EXPOSE yourself.
For a shy little girl from New Orleans that is a big step. you have been my drug of choice, when the urge hit... I logged on and found beauty and humor through your wonderful images.
So with a winkCopy_of_DSC04184

Thanks Ya'll
for welcoming me.
