Ducks

By kwsNI written 7/11/07 2:37 PM, published 7/11/07 2:37 PM

Looking thru a few photos from last summer, I found a few photos I never got to post.  This was a duck swimming in a fountain, flecked with little drops of water.  Looking thru a few photos from last  summer, I found a few photos I never got to post.  This was a duck swimming in a fountain, flecked with little drops of water.

We decided to head down to Aruba for my birthday 2 weeks ago.  Just getting a chance to upload photos and stuff.  Here are the highlights of the photos from above and below the water.  As always, there are more on my website.

Semi-Redux

By kwsNI written 5/15/06 7:25 PM, published 5/15/06 7:25 PM

Back in 2004, I posted some photos from our last trip to Hawaii.  My underwater shots were all, well, blue.

Over the last few days, I've been putting together a new photo gallery on my website and I decided to try and photoshop some of the color back into some of my underwater pictures.

Here's 1 repeat and 2 others that weren't worth posting 2 years ago.  All I did was auto levels and/or auto color.  No other tweaks, just 30 seconds worth of manipulation and I was done.

Seeing all these DOF entries reminded me of a picture I took this summer at the MO Botanical Gardens.  As it's just too damed cold out this weekend to play outside, I'll leave everyone some Popup Linksummer flowers.

Dropped in at the new orchid exhibit at the Missouri Botanical Garden.

The Camellia house was also in full bloom.  It was sunset and I couldn't get many good shots, but I did catch the sun coming thru the windows just right for one good snap.

Best of 2005

By kwsNI written 1/1/06 3:28 PM, published 1/1/06 3:28 PM
I'm not sure how I could pick a best of 2005 shot.  Although I didn't shoot a tenth of the photos this year that I'd have liked to, every one I did take means something to me.  So choosing my best photo would be like a parent choosing their favorite child.

So Popup Linkhere is my entry to the contest, portrait category.  I chose it because it's the photo that means the most to me, the one that I'm most glad to have taken.

What better way to celebrate the holidays than to humiliate your children?

I'm not much of a people photographer.  I've never had much talent for creating or capturing poses.  Every once in a while though, I manage to convince my wife to pose for me.  Not only is she fun to work with, but there are always some great shots at the end.

Lord Litchfield Dies

By kwsNI written 11/11/05 9:08 AM, published 11/11/05 9:08 AM

Lord Litchfield, a first cousin once-removed of the Queen and an avid photographer died of a stroke today (obit).  He's best known for his portraits of the royal family, especially Charles and Diana's wedding.  His work could be found in many magazines, including Life and Vogue.

Some of his work can be found here.

Theme Post

By kwsNI written 11/4/05 8:32 PM, published 11/4/05 8:32 PM
Ok, this theme is pretty easy for me.  There is one photographer here that I can truly say has influenced my perspective.  I'm afraid all of these photos are reposts, I've posted them all before

This post is dedicated to BrassBear.  One of the us original editors, he hasn't participated much in the past two years or so - but his distinctive style of architecture photography has been a huge inspiration.

So without further ado, some of my architecture photos - inspired by BrassBear....
