I think I missed the cutoff, but oh well.  Looking out my kitchen window I finally was inspired and risked a few moments away from the kids to get some shots.

New growth on plants is invisible!  We see the results, but not the growth itself as it is happening.   I liked the lighter green of the new growth on this small persimmon tree.   So I zoomed in for a couple of close shots of the  new leaves budding.   (My wife says the framing on that last one is best.  Unfortunately it turned out a bit blurry.  Need to play more with my macro settings I guess.)

Bonus:  An apple on the sidewalk as I headed back to the house.

We moved into our current home in early January and watched the hydrangea bed near the front walk transform from ugly dry stalks to what seemed to be an overgrown jungle.  Finally in June, however, they started to bloom and the wait was worth it!    Bright pinks (a bit blurry...) and beautiful and delicate  white and purple blooms, with the most amazing centers.   Here's a little detail on that shot.

This is my first post after discovering the photographica RSS feed a week or two ago.  I've really been enjoying everyone's pictures.   Comments welcome!  :)
