A Birding We Will Go ... Part 2
A Birding We Will Go ...
A bird in the hand is betterAnd still better than two in the bush?
This was my first official foray into the world of birding.
The great part was: As Rock says "Nature Rules!"
The three main problems were: (1) I didn't have SG's long lens, (2) I didn't reread Pyro's shooting in show tips, and (3) I wasn't driving so I couldn't stay longer than desired.
As for these particular shots, I think in the excitement of getting the shots I paid too much attention to just getting a shot. Next time I plan on paying more attention to important things like subject relative to composition, and having the right settings, especially my ISO.
Anyway, feel free to provide a nice list of things I can do better next time. Thanks for stopping by.
Reach for the sky...
Best of 2007 Entry: Landscapes
My 2007 Best of Landscapes choice The main reason I chose this shot is because when I showed it to an acquaintance, he said it looked like China. He was rather shocked to learn it was in Utah and only a few miles away, with the shot actually taken 7 floors above from where we were standing at the time. I have had a view of these mountains for a few years and in that time have only seen this particular view for about 20 minutes. I am glad that I brought my camera to work that day, and wasn't late for that matter either.
Thanks for looking!
I Believe I Can Fly...
Crepuscular rays = a winning shot
I caught these crepuscular rays one morning while at work. The sun was coming up over the mountain while a rain storm was going through the canyon. One of the local TV stations has a photo contest looking for weather related photos. I entered this shot, it was then voted as the August 2007 photo of the month.
I hope everyone is doing well. I haven't been by much lately for which I apologize, but I have been spying on occasion. I mainly wanted to show this shot and says thanks for everyone at this site who helped me realize that taking my camera to work is ok.
Take care!

Walk in the Park - Belated Conquer Fears Challenge
Once again a belated challenge post, all pictures were taken on the last day of the challenge just never uploaded. This time it was conquering fears by JustPeachy. Too often I would rather just get lost in the crowd
This site has provided me with the opportunity to stand out and be little different
I used to be comfortable just leaving my pictures in a shoebox in the closet or on the hard drive. Now I want to try and look at things in a new way. The fear I am trying to conquer is that of sharing what I see.
I have greatly enjoyed this site and talent and friendships that exist here. Thank you for all your comments and votes on the pictures I have shared. I have learned a lot and desire to keep learning.

Thank you for the comments on the last post. This was the same trip just further down the road.

Yesterday I went to pour some water out of the Brita, nothing came. Someone had lowered the temperature of the fridge so the water froze. Here are some shots of frozen water bubbles in a Brita filter:
This is Mt. Olympus as the sun was coming over its top.
