Slot Canyon

I went to a slot canyon a week ago. I took about 100 photos, I've started going through them, here's a small selection.

It's quite a difficult shooting envorinment. The light areas near the sky are ahout 10 stops brighter than the dark sections near the floor.

This  is an abstraction rather than a scene. It's for the competiton entry.

This is one of the widest parts of the canyon.

I forgot to add the link to the main photo in my previous story, so here it is.

Livening up dull photos

I was walking through farmers fields and forests today. I only god a few usable photos, which were quit dull to be honest.

Due to a recent heatwave, the ground has become very dry and cracked. Here's a lone plant trying to survive.

This is a wheat field not far from the dry ground.

My girlfriend dragged me to the beach last weekend so I thought I'd take me camera (just incase). I got this shot at sunset over the Wash in eastern England. The photo was intensionally under exposed to bring out the orange... but this had an effect on the water. To me it looks like a sea of oil. I think it came out more interesting because of it.

I went to Colchester Zoo on Monday. It was a nice day, but it was hard geting decent photos because there were a million and 1 kids running around the place. Also all the animals are behind glass, so trying to get a shot wihout reflections was quite difficult.

Monkey
Monkey tucking in
Mucky chops
Mother and baby
Fuzzy Monkey
Jaguar
Jaguar Big Mouth
Lizzard

I've got loads more of lots of different animals.

I took this photo in Port d'Alcudia in Majorca. I desaturated everyting but the doors, winddows and trees. I don't usually like selective colour photos because it takes attention away from the rest of the image, but in this case, I think it works quite well.

I used a Canon 10D and a Canon 28-135 IS lens.

This is a picture I took in Majorca in September last year. The image is comprised of 6 seperate photos. I was driving through the mountains and saw the villa. I just had to stop to get a photo. I used a Canon 10D with a Canon 28-135 IS lens.

Another panoramic, this time from Santa Monica in California. We went there because my girlfriend is a Baywatch fan.

And here are two other panoramics I've alread posted incase you missed it.

While driving on my vacation last year, I saw this out of my rear view mirror. I just had to pull over to get a photograph. The sun was in the perfect position over the mountains. See the full version.

This photo was taken in Majorca (Mallorca) about 20 minutes after a humid thunder storm. There was hardly any rain so the visibility was good. There were kids running up the jetty and diving off it, so I have to be quick getting this photo.

It was shot handheld using a Canon 10D and a Canon 28-135 IS lens. Click here to view the photo.

This is my girlfriend. It's a candid style portrait of her about to cut her hair. I desaturated everything but the hair using Photoshop It's about destroying beauty and how sad it would be when she makes the cut... hence the muted colours. I hope this comes across as I indended in the photo.
