Threw my back out this morning, spent a boring day resting on my tush waiting for my back to feel better.  Decided to do some low stress photography for the contest.

My porch is enclosed with screen so I'm stretching it a bit and calling it a room.

Romance Lives... and Curves!

By photorogue written 10/5/06 6:00 PM, published 10/6/06 11:09 AM

Being a poor photographer I tend to search for subjects close to home.  Tonight however I found out just how rich I can be.  I hope that these images convey just how amazing this night started out.

I was doubly lucky, not only was the night amazing, it was incredibly curvaceous too!

The lighting in these images changes color some, I was using my simple point and shoot and was altering the white balance to change the look of the scenes.

The moon was full and the inlet was awash with gentle waves.  The boats rocked gently in the light as the clouds sailed over them.  The moon was a beacon to weary sailors and romantics, warning of rocky shoals and treacherous passages.  The moon sailed through the night, oblivious to us all.

Go soft into that gentle night, dreamers and lovers, sail into the misty clouds of imagination.

As the year turns

My wife and I celebrated our first anniversary almost a year ago.  As we get into that season again I wanted to share the photos I took on the trip we made to visit family and friends in North Carolina and Tennessee.

Of course, Popup Linkthe family.

We visited a christmas tree auction with her brother and his family, there was a beautiful Popup Linkcarousel.

They took us on a beautiful trip through the mountains and several small towns around Knoxville, this is what they showed us.  Popup LinkGatlinburg and Popup LinkPigeon Forge.  Since it was the holiday season the Popup Linklights were Popup Linkbeautiful.

That trip we watched the seasons turn, being in Florida we don't get to see a lot of Popup Linkthis or Popup Linkthis.

Since I came from cold country I really miss the winter seasons, hopefully I'll get back to them someday.

Testing my digital

I started out a film photographer Popup Linkthe most famous door in St. Augustine and have enjoyed amateur photography for several years.  Recently though I took up a small digital point and shoot and have been putting it through its paces.  I think I found its limits, but I am satisfied with the results.  Popup LinkA1A Alehouse I started taking some night shots around St. Augustine, Fl, testing what I could do.  Popup Linkspanish fort #1  I shot a lot of the popular tourist spots by night, trying to get more original shots of the local tourist sites.  Popup Linkholiest acre This cross marks the spot of the first Christian consecrated land in America.  Popup LinkEpiscopal church I loved the abstract appearance of this steeple by night.

My wife and I spent the evening of July 4th sitting on the deck of a local restaurant where we had a good view of the fireworks.  I shot several photos there, both the daylight scenery and after dark.  Popup Linkpier next to the restaurant Popup Linkpier after dark   Popup Linkfreeway and dock

Last photo is a shot I used in sepia mode of the walkway of our temporary draw bridge.  Popup Linknight walk

I think I get my money's worth out of the camera.  My instructors at college always encouraged us to look at things with a new eye, and this camera has helped me do that.
