I Need A Little Help

By rednstumpy written 7/19/08 8:07 AM, published 7/19/08 10:32 AM

I took the grandkids swimming and these bugs were in the water. 100_3723100_3091  Can anyone tell me what they are? I need to know before I go back in the water. Also the metalic green and blue beetles were all over the milkweed. 100_3955  Never seen them before either. Maybe I'm just noticing more now that I'm looking through a lens.

Blazing A Trail

By rednstumpy written 5/5/08 7:13 AM, published 5/5/08 7:13 AM

100_0593     Blazing our own trail along the Snake River, my friend Judy and I had quite the day. I was hoping to find a few song birds or a blue heron along the river's edge. Then what I thought was a hummingbird zipped by my head. It turned out to be a moth hawk heading for a thistle. I yelled at Judy "Iv'e got to try to get a shot of this" and I was off after it. Just as I was about to take the picture I caught Judy out of the corner of my eye falling in slow motion over a huge log crashing and banging to the ground. It was check on her or get the picture. Well here's the picture. Judy was okay and she's still my best friend.

spring is just around the corner

By rednstumpy written 2/22/08 10:57 AM, published 2/23/08 6:32 AM

I went for a drive on Tuesday to the Fort Hall river bottoms and came upon these swans. I't seem to me like this one was inspecting the new recruits. It just kept pacing back and forth in front of the others. As I went on down the road I came upon a porcupine enjoying his breakfast. He didn't seem to mind stopping for a photo shoot. As we were heading home via Wolverine Canyon I had this beautiful doe step into my view. She was healthy and looked ready to drop her fawn. Just as the sun was going down and we were leaving the canyon I noticed this young buck. Does ready to fawn and bucks losing thier horns means spring is just around the corner.inspecting the new recruits porcupine having breakfast porcupine 2 doe at Wolverine Canyon not as horny as I used to be
