Hello All

Been awhile since I've posted.
I have been sick with broncitus,
but doing much better now!

Texas has been hit with high winds lately and
here out at the lake they have been bad!

I tried to put seeds in the feeders only
for them to blow right out into the lake!

And the birds, well they had a time tring to fight that wind!

I watched them from my window and it started to get funny!

So, I decided to take some photos so
I could share them with ya all.
Now my windows are stained dark so
this was a challenge for me, to say the least!

Hello all
Need some help here!
I believe something has gone wrong with
my zoom lens!
Everything I shoot with my zoom lens comes up with an err!
So, now I have to use my macro lens, lol!

These birds were shot in macro.
I have never photographed birds in macro before.
So, any advice would be very welcome.

It's about time we had a sunny warm day here in  Houston!
I even felt good enough to take a nice walk ! So I decided to take a walk around My Back Yard.
I guess all the critters decided to come out too.I ran into all kinds.

First I ran into this mallard duck, he thinks he's King Duck Around Here!

Of course there was Mr.Gecko taking a
Commercial Break in the warm sun.

Then I ran into Mother Dove, she just came down to say hi to me!

As I walked on down further, I ran right into, Mother Goose ! She's quit a show off!

All of a sudden I heard this loud eeeking scream! I looked up and there was that Osprey ! I watched to see if he was going to catch a fish, lol! As I was, this turtle pops up out of the water, as to say, Take My Picture Too !

Well, it was getting late and my legs were getting tierd! So, I started home.
When all of a sudden I saw the trees moving along side of me. Something big and red! Is it a bird? Is it a Man?
No, its It's BirdMan ! LOLOOOL!!!!

Well my day ended with this beautiful sunset.

It's Just a morning run to this coot!

This silly Gull,
Thinks he's a duck. He comes everyday and feeds with the ducks.
Even trys to quack like a duck, lol!
Its so funny to watch him!

This weekend my husband and I went to a chilly cook off.
It was sponcered by a local Texas bikers club.
I was walking around the woods, looking for good bird shots, of course!
When my husband came up and took my camera away from me!
No more birds he said! Its time for you to start learning something new.

So, thats what I did! I took shots of some of the bikers.
Played with paintshop pro too, which I have never done.
I am totally out of my comfort zone here!
But I am willing to learn. I have a Nikon D80 camera.
Its new and I have not learned how to use all the settings on it yet.
So, let me know what you think. I had a really hard time with these shots.
But, its my first try and eveyone has to start somewhere. Any advice you can
give me would be greatly appreciated!

My best friend and I have been together for years!
We live on a small lake in Texas.
Its so peaceful here.
The spot we have on the lake has a lovely view of the morning sunrise
and the evening sunset too. We'll spend our day walking around the lake visiting and finding all kinds of things to get into! We have such fun together!
I don't know what we would do with out each other!

Till one morning when I woke, my buddie was not there next to me, to watch the
the morning sunrise!
I stood up and looked out over the lake, butI could not see him anywhere!

I waited all day for him, right there on our favorite spot. He never came.
That was the loneliest night I ever spent!

I got up the next morning and he still was not there!

I will stand here all day and look and look!

My Buddie is lost, where is he, O,God where is my Friend!
I hide my head, for the tears are many!

I sleep another night with out my friend!

I fear O God that I have lost
my best friend for  ever!

My Heart will be empty without him!

Just a few of the hundred finches that flocked our cove! Along with the fifty or so of Redwing blackbirds, our birdfeeders are very active these days!

It was a warm sunny day on April 7th, 2007 and my husband and I were sitting and having our lunch. He was gazing out the window, when he happened to see these two redbirds just outside our bay window.  As we were watching them, we soon realized we were witnessing a romance in progress!

He was singing his song of love to her, as she slowly approached him.
For a moment time stood still, as they gazed into each others eyes.
Then he reached down and picked up a seed and stretched out towards her.
She tilted her head and looked up at him with her loving eyes.
Then he feed her his seed of love!

That's when I took my shot!
Now I just got this camera(canon powershot s3) on Christmas.
I Knew nothing about photography or taking pictures!
I was so worried the photo would not come out!

This was one of the very first photos I ever shot!
I have grown since this photo, but this one will always be my favorite!

Well its been raining all week here in Houston!
And my husband and I got bored!
So,we decided to go through my photos and sort them out.
As we went through them, we started laughing at some of the funny poses in the photos.
We had such a fun time sorting and laughing!
I just thought I would share some of them with you all.

These two fellows live here in our little cove area.

The  red crowned woodpecker is quit a busy little guy. I see him tapping on almost every tree!

The hairy woodpecker
stays mostly up in the top of the trees. I would see him just a twisting around and around the branches!

african bee hive

Well, thats what all our nieghbors are asking! My husband and I found this African Honey Bee Hive, in a tree near
where we live!
I went outside to change the seeds in the bird feeders and they were filled with these bees! I had to change all the seeds out, to nonfruit seeds.
Then I got stung!

So, I called the county,health dept,extension service, who told me to call the animal control. Then they gave me other phone numbers to call.
I gave up and posted it on my yahoo blog. Then I emailed all the news papers
and one of our local tv news stations.

Finally they let me put the story on their community news blog.

I prey this african bee hive gets removed, before these buzz'rs start sworming!
